Cameron Wake had never made the playoffs. The 34-year-old had never even had a winning season in seven previous years with the Miami Dolphins. Yet, Wake isn't celebrating a 10-5 record that secured his first postseason action.

"There were games that we lost that we obviously should not," Wake told the Palm Beach Post. "What's our record, 10-5? I'm disappointed in our record. We shouldn't have lost five games. There are games that we lost, hands down, we should have won.

" ... Looking at the guys, looking at the way we play, how we're built, I was not the least bit surprised. If anything, we should probably beat some teams by more than we did."
The Dolphins could also have been 0-5 to open the season if Browns kicker Cody Parkey made a chip-shot field goal.

Credit coach Adam Gase for feeling out his team and making adjustments on the fly. Placing the offense in Jay Ajayi's hands turned the season around. Realizing Wake could handle more reps than just the situational pass-rush role he had to open the year, energized the Dolphins' defense. Wake and Jordy Nelson are the leading candidates for NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

The veteran, however, isn't breaking out the pompoms for merely making the postseason.

"I don't think anybody's thinking about, 'All right, we've made it. Yeah, it's over,'" Wake said. "No. If anything, this is where the journey begins, hopefully."
The first leg of that journey is Sunday's divisional tilt versus the New England Patriots.

Wake hasn't eaten in 7 years...and he's HUNGRY!

What a fantastic person, player, professional, teammate and role model this guy has been.

Unlikely to ever make the HOF barring a memorable run through the postseason this year or next culminating in him holding a Lombardi trophy, there is no question his pass rushing ability is right up there with the games all-time greatest DE's. Again though, even more important, he's a world class human being.

Get that man a steak.

Cam's a beast and I love his attitude in regards to the 5 losses. All we needed to do is not get off to such a **** start against NE the first game and Sunday's game is for the division.

Who on earth would of thought that statement would be applicable at the time.

He is going to ****ing kill whoever is across the LOS from him in the WildCard round. I would not want to be a QB playing against this D-Line come playoffs. Remember what Suh did his first time making the playoffs? He almost won that game single handedly for the Lions. I look for that exact type of impact from those two come playoffs.

It all starts with the Pats coming to our house Sunday.

The Pats ( and any other playoff team) will dedicate two men to keep Wake (or Suh) away from the QB.

Our other guys are going to have to step up.

Wake will still get his though.

Cant double team this both. Pats will scheme to reduce pass rush...I fully expect them to exploit our weak LB play and throw fast short passes to mitigate our pass rush. Cam needs to stop the run also...I think they will use his speed against him when he tries to come in off the edge.

If the rest of this team is of the same mindset, then they are going to kick some ever lovin' ass!

Cam is right. Miami dropped many of those early games. Stills dropping that pass still bothers me.

But this team has bounced back in a big way.

Yet...they are young and most do not have any playoff experience.

I would fear this team. I really would. They're dangerous.
