Havent heard much about him, do you guys think there is any chance we resign him? I really don’t wanna see him play for anyone else he’s meant so much to the dolphins.

I’d love to see him go to KC, NO, LAR, LAC, GB or Chi and chase a ring.

I don’t believe we play any of those teams next year, otherwise would’ve added Philly and Dallas.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind him going to the rams if it helped prevent Pats from winning another SB. But he’s a legend and so close to 100 sacks for us. I rather Wake for 6-7 mill than trey flowers for 17

Super hard one to let go.

I'd like to get nothing but youth, or as much as possible, on the field even if it's a mid/late rounder over Wake.

Sadly, there is no future in Wake. :(

I'm hoping Wake gets a nice contract from another team so that we can get a comp pick for him instead of getting nothing. He's been a very good player for us but I see no reason to keep him for one more year in which we don't make the playoffs just so that he can finish his career here. How does that help us in the future?

Veteran leadership is a very underrated aspect of player development, if we draft a DE early learning from Wake is definitely an advantage for a young guy, doesn’t always pan out like I had hoped without Dion Jordan and Charles Harris, but maybe third times the charm? Plus at this stage in his career I don’t think he moves the needle very far in terms of wins so it’s not like it’s harming the rebuild

Wake would have such a limited role in this defense. We know we aren't going to compete. Selfishly I would love to have him back and have his presence in the building. But unselfishly I would let him walk and sign a to be a pass rusher on a competitive team.

Either way wouldnt be a mistake. You do have to field a team, Branch is already gone, I suspect Hayes and Quinn will also leave. Thats 3 guys you need to replace and getting them in FA wont be cheaper than just resigning Wake for a year or 2... Wake also played on hometown discounts for all of his career in Miami... If I were in charge, it'd be up to him as long as his contract demands arent all out of whack.

He's a UFA so he has the choice. If he wants to stay then that's great, sign him up. If he doesn't I wouldn't begrudge him one bit.

Cam Wake has always done right by the Dolphins and I highly hope and think we will continue to do right by him. If he wants to chase a ring, by all means let him go and wish him well. Hell, throw him a party at the stadium before he leaves, he's earned it. If he wants to stay for one year as a pass rusher and veteran leader for the youngsters, that's fine too, make him the offer and let him decide. We can use him in the rotation and he would be an asset in the locker room.

But one year is the limit, and make sure he understands that. We're turning over this roster and rebuilding a team to compete after Wake's time is up. That means we need to blood these youth with playing time to accelerate their learning. For the 2019 season, we'll hopelessly need people to rotate in for the pass rush, so no worries. We also have the cap space for one veteran like that, and Wake's earned it. But starting in 2020 we're playing for real, and we need those youngsters in the fire. So it's a one year contract as a rotational pass rusher. That's what we have to offer and we will not be offended if he decides to pursue his craft elsewhere. He can still come back for a day and retire a Dolphin.

This is a short-term solution, and really can only be a short-term solution. I'm sure Cam understands that.
