"Obviously, it's unfortunate what happened [last season] and we're not going to dive too deep into that," Wake said. "But, as a whole, you look around this team [and] there are guys that may be vocal or guys that maybe do it by example. We have leaders all over the place."

"I was never of the impression that [leadership] was lacking. But, just like I don't feel like my strength is lacking or my conditioning is lacking, I'm going to work on that as well," Wake said. "Working on leadership, making it a more prominent part of our organization, I don't see anything wrong with that."

Wake is a more introverted than some other leaders in sports, but he definitely leads by example. Is our new OT Albert a leader type?

I wish we had a team full of Cam Wakes. I'd be happy if our entire team adopted his approach to the game and life.

From a few excepts during camp, it appears Dallas Thomas is becoming the vocal leader on the OL. It appears his dedication, drive and effort have, at least to this point, made last year seem like an anomaly in his teammate's and coaches' eyes.

I really hope Tannehill can truly be the leader of the offense. In 2012 it was Bush and in 2013 I don't think we really had a leader on offense (Maybe Hartline)....

Cam Wake is a beast and leading by example is certainly a good thing....but not being a vocal leader hurts his overall greatness

I disagree. Zach Thomas was a quiet guy in the locker room too. You don't have to be loud to be effective. Cam Wake understands how he needs to be and leads by example, and he doesn't just tell the media a bunch of scripted soundbites like most players do.

It sounds like at least some of the guys are still using the Martin fiasco to fuel them, hopefully it continues to unite the team in an "us against the world" mentality all throughout the season.

I was talking about being a vocal leader on the field when it matters. Zach Thomas was a vocal leader on the field. I couldn't care less about off the field stuff. The most important positions to have a vocal leader are of course QB and then MLB. Dan the man was a very vocal leader and that was one of his best qualities. Imho the all time greats must lead by example and be vocal leaders especially at those two positions. Clearly Wake is a DE but it seems pretty obvious to me that if he were a more vocal leader it would only make him more valuable.

What both the offense and the defense needs is a smart, vocal leader. If Koa misi in the middle can analyze an offense well and make audibles correctly that would really help tremendously imo. Last years defense at times looked like everyone was looking around for answers, nobody was taking charge.

On offense its obvious it has to be tannehill. I think he's capable. He's obviously very confident, and has tremendous work ethic so players will follow him. I think if the offensive line plays significantly better than last year, and tannehill continues to embrace becoming a leader, and misi steps up and becomes a smart mike, then we may see the playoffs this year and make some noise! A lot of if's, but its not that far fetched. I'm sure lazor will do a much better job of helping the o-line and tannehill than Sherman could ever dream of doing. Go phins!
