The South Florida Sun-Sentinel suggests that Greg Camarillo (ACL, meniscus surgery) could begin the season on PUP.
Camarillo can't cut yet and hasn't been medically cleared for football activities. He's "pushing hard" to be ready at some point in training camp, but the Dolphins' additions of Brian Hartline and Patrick Turner suggest they aren't counting on Camarillo. He won't be a recommended fantasy pick. May. 18 - 6:24 pm et

Been saying this for a while. What are the rules on PUP? How many games at the start of the season MUST he miss if he got PUP'd?

Rotoworld is really not where you should be getting information from. They link to articles and usually pull a part out and make it look like fact. Instead of reading what Rotoworld writes, click the Sun-Sentinel link and read the story. Also, watch the video interview(where the story comes from) with Camarillo. The reporter asks Camarillo point blank "Are you on path to be 100% by Training Camp?" Camarillo answers "Yes Sir."

With that said, the type of injury he suffered usually takes 9-12 months to recover from. At the start of training camp, it will have only been 8 months. The first game of the season will be at 9 months after his injury. It is likely realistic and in the best interest of both Camarillo and the team to put him on PUP to start the season. Yes we will be without Camarillo, our best WR in 2008(Yes he was), for the first six weeks, but it will give him another month and a half to continue to rehab and really give himself a chance to recover.

I dont think it would be in best interest for Camarillo to go on PUP list.(If Turner and Hartline end up being something, you can probably kiss Camarillo goodbye) You can only have so many WR on a roster.

Makes perfect sense considering Hartline is a near clone of Camarillo in terms of size, hands, route-running, and is faster. After cycling 80 guys through the 53 man last year, it wouldn't surprise me if they put GC on the PUP list - or IR for that matter - until he's 100%.

Also would serve as insurance policy in case a starting WR got hurt (see: Camarillo last year). I don't want Greg to do long-term damage by rushing his return. It says a lot about why Camarillo is who he is that he is attacking his rehab like he attacks the middle of the field, with reckless abandon.

I agree...as long as we are hearing the truth about his recovery...why rush him back?

The FO may step in and PUP him, but Cam is a BP kinda guy, stay out of the recovery room and stay on the field. You will have to drag his butt onto the PUP. He knows he is a UDFA that got a good contract and he is going to give his all to keep his spot. He does the math and sees the competition at WR. He knows if he is pushed off the field someone else has an opportunity to step in and take his spot. One of the reasons I like the guy.

Yeah he's a fighter who won't give up easily. Just because Hartline is a near clone of him doesn't mean he'll perform with the same intelligence and drive Camarillo does. Cam has been great for this team.
