I thought, like a lot of others, that last years catch catch n' run for the TD vs the Ravens by Greg Camarillo was just plain LUCK. I honestly didn't think he would even make the roster this year; however, after seeing his consistent pass catching and his ability to get open I AM SOLD on Mr. Camarillo. Don't get me wrong he is not and probably never will be a #1 or #2 WR but he is a very solid #3. Like the title states, Greg reminds me a lot of Wes Welker when he was a small unknown WR moving the chains like no one else. He's quick like Wes, he's able to create space for himself (like he did vs. Hobbs in the Pats game), and has hands of GLUE. I even saw a flash of greatness when I saw him haul in the one handed catch earlier in the season, he ended up being out of bounds but still impressive.

Camarillo = New Wes Welker. Any thoughts?

He doesnt have the speed and size to be a #1 or 2 but I agee he is definetly an excellent #3. He has proven to be as shifty as Welker but he is getting closer every time i see him play.

Camarillo's got nice hands and good speed. He could be a very nice slot receiver/clutch guy on third downs.

I think you are on the money and I also think the Bess could be another Welker too, not too bad to have a couple Wes Welker's on your team, question was'nt Chrebet one of Pennington's go to guys in Pennington's early years? He was crafty and one big gnat!

He's a broke man's Wes Welker. He has the requirements (hands, route running, speed), he just doesnt excel in those areas as much as the real thing.

Camarillo has become one of my very favorite players.

I like him as well. What's nice is he has more size than Welker so he can use his body as well to shield off defenders. He runs nice routes, which I think is more of it then his quickness. I used to play receiver, if you run great routes no db can stop you, especially if you run all the routes well. They can't squat on a route. Camarillo runs the entire tree nicely. The other nice thing is he runs our underneath stuff with Ginn and the Te pulling everyone away from him. He knows how to run his route into the space given to him. That is a great route runner. That is Ginn's problem a little, he runs exactly where the coaches have taught him, "run 8 yards then slant" but sometimes you can only run 6 yards. He will learn soon. He looked better yesterday as well.

I think he will do a great job until Bess is seasoned enough to play the spot full time.

I think Bess is our next Welker.

Welker is overrated on this forum though. He did alot of good things for us, sure, but there's not a chance he'd put up the numbers here like he did in NE last year.

yeah! Camarillo will always have a place in my good books. for 1 reason alone. LAST SEASONS TD WIN!!!!!

Camarillo has great hands and speed.... hes also not 3 ft tall like welker.

I hope camarillo has a long term future here! Go fins.

I think that it's been so long since we've had a reliable receiver (besides Welker) that we don't know what to make of it. I wouldn't crown him MVP just yet, and I don't think he's quite as versatile and heady as Welker, but he's definitely a solid possession receiver.

I personally think Bess is going to end up supplanting Ginn one of these days. Wouldn't surprise me to see Bess and Camarillo as our starters by the end of the year. Still need a true #1 receiver in next years' draft.

I think Bess is our next Welker.

Welker is overrated on this forum though. He did alot of good things for us, sure, but there's not a chance he'd put up the numbers here like he did in NE last year.

2006 Welker had a team-best 67 receptions for 687 yards and one score. He returned 48 kickoffs for 1,048 yards (22.2 average) and 41 punts for 378 yards (9.2 average).
Welker's first season as a Patriot eclipsed his best season as a Dolphin (2006); he bettered his totals for receptions, touchdowns, and yardage in his first ten games. In Week 1, he caught the first of the Patriots' record 75 touchdowns, equaling the one receiving touchdown he had scored in his three seasons with the Dolphins. He set career bests for yardage three times: in the Patriots' Week 6 win against the Dallas Cowboys, Welker had eleven catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns (all career bests); the next week, against the Dolphins, he had nine catches for 138 yards and two more touchdowns (the most receiving yards of any NFL player that week); and in Week 12, against the Eagles, he had 13 receptions for 149 yards. In Week 15, against the Jets, Welker reached 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career; in Week 16, against the Dolphins, he recorded his 101st reception of the season, tying the Patriots franchise record set by Troy Brown in 2001. In Week 17, against the Giants, he caught eleven more passes, setting the Patriots franchise record for catches with 112, and tying Bengals receiver T. J. Houshmandzadeh for most receptions in the 2007 NFL season. He also set an NFL record for most catches in a first season with a new team. Welker, who finished the season with 1,175 yards and eight touchdowns, received one vote for NFL Offensive Player of the Year, an award won by his quarterback, Tom Brady, and was voted to his first AP All-Pro Team (second team).
In his first two postseason games, Welker had 16 receptions for 110 yards and two touchdowns. He tied the Super Bowl record of 11 receptions in a single game in the Patriots' 17-14 loss to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.[10]

Not sure if he is overrated or not. But I'd take him back in a heartbeat.:err:
