The Sun-Sentinel reports that coach Cameron said that "the Dolphins had at least one team interested in trading for recently released quarterback Daunte Culpepper.

The deal fell through, and that was the reason coach Cam Cameron gave for releasing Culpepper so late."

I noticed that many of the things Cam said contradict what C-Pep wrote on his e-mails.

Do you think they would have released him anyway if they knew about Vick's indictment?

:cooldude:

Yes because the Falcons have (for some reason) expressed disinterest in Culpepper..
It isn't that hard to understand why.

1. He is still not 100%
2. Was a product of Randy Moss
3. Hasn't done squat since 2004.
4. Just hit 30.
5. Is a QB that relies on mobility, which is gone.

It is better for them to go with Joey if Vick is out, and draft Brohm next year.

Just as I thought.

The phins were professional and sat him down to tell him he's not the guy. Then Culpepper and the phins AGREED to facilitate a trade. They had one working with a team Daunte wanted to go to and Daunte put the kybosh on the deal out of spite and vengefulness. In other words he did what a 3rd grader would do and not a professional. All he had to do was let the deal get done and instead he made public statements and destroyed the deal. Weak.

hmm Marcus Vick is available as well, the Falcons are more then welcome to last year's stable of QB's...cleo lemon excluded of course.

IMO, Cam is an "X's and O's" kind of coach, things like being sensitive to the timing of DC's release or Ginn over Quinn is a brand new thing for Coach Cameron to deal with and then to speak publically about those sorts of things leads to athlete's tongue because his foot ends up in his mouth so much....

Was there any mention of the value that was being offered for Culpepper?

Why would you exclude Cleo? For the right compensation Atlanta can have him. We can even throw Murlarkey on the deal.

Kind of like where he got that roll dance from and the reason why he still uses it

By better to go with Joey and then draft Brohm I hope you realize that means they're going with Joey so that they can lose more games and have a better chance of getting Brohm...because they would absolutely win more games with Daunte at QB.

Nah. If they want the top overall pick and guarentee themselves Brohm, they should sign Daunte immediately and start him. If he could make it through 16 games without being benched for Harrington again, he could easily lead the Falcons to a 3-13 season. Or worse.

That's actually not a half bad idea. I'd be open to trading Cleo. He's here on a 1-year RFA deal. The downside would be Gibran Hamdan as your #3 QB and John Beck as your immediate backup.

But, many believe that John Beck had first round talent and first round QBs often start off as the immediate backup rather than 3rd string...and John's 25 years old, about to be 26...so he could use the early experience.

If Daunte leads the Falcons to a 3-13 season, Joey Harrington leads them to an 0-16 season. Period.

he still never answers why he couldnt give dante a chance to compete the day he was medically cleared to practice

On number 2, I've had several discussions about that on other sites. What has Moss done since he hasn't been playing with Culpepper?
