I'd be more interested in seeing what we do with two out of our top three picks from last year.
langford and merling.
I saw wake got a four year deal.. .didn't see the money, but who's the odd man out.
I would have to assume it'd be wake for the first year or so, but I must admit I know nothing of this kid.

Wake is an OLB while Langford and Merling are DEs. Wakes signing doesn't effect either of them
Not really a seat, I can see them releasing Vonnie Holiday . . . and Sparano loves to rotate his DLinemen . . . so Merling/Starks/Langford/Ferguson/Soliai/Canty all would be in heavy rotation. Canty would be Vonnie's replacement as he fits the 3-4 DE position better than Vonnie. Probably starts, but Merling could easily be the starter. Langford is the obvious starter on the other side. He was a beast this year.

wake affects nothing.
Wake will be brought in to compete for a starting position . . . but if anything, he adds depth to a pretty shallow Linebacking core.
But I agree, I wouldn't pencil him in as a starter yet, we aren't done adding to the linebacking crew this offseason.

He is . . . but not in a 3-4. He is a OLB in the 3-4. His speciality is pass rushing . . . OLB's are the main pass rushers in a 3-4.
Like if Julius Peppers comes here, he would be a OLB . . . even tho he was a DE his whole NFL career.

That LB core would be sweet. But if we can bring in Scott i think you can kiss Crowder goodbye. So while i really like that core i think it may look somethign like this.

We arent getting Bart Scott he loves Baltimore and has said he would even take a paycut to stay there.
This isn't OJ Brigance (the secnd coming)
Wake is better than you give him credit..., and he did play DE in the CFL and he would drop into coverage if he were asked but that would be stupid because he was a pass-rush specialist in the CFL... what I'm saying is that he was quite coachable a team player..., his team thought he got shafted they thought he was the MVP last year and lots of people thought so...
Wake will play a lot situationally... He is a lock to make this team...

it sounds to me that he will be playing de and olb. he prolly will spell who ever on plays where we need to get to the qb. i read one article on the kid so i dont know how he is on the pass coverage of things i have no idea but seems he has the speed to cover a guy. i think this is going to come down to training camp to see how we use him. we didnt pay the kid a whole lot of money so if he figures to bring something to the table than i will be happy.
Some people seem to think we did but we really didn't..., because our LB core will be turned over anyway... I think Roth, C Anderson played their hearts out but they are not athletic enough for our new breed of D...
