I have a lot of hopes for this guy when I found out he was coming to MIAMI to play and I saw who he was I was impressed I kept noticing tho that he not always came up with bombing tackles and sacks he looked like everytime he persued a running back he looked like he was going to slip on the tackle. he definitely has the speed and the technique. If you see his videos you can see that his tackles and sacks are not to break the quaterback in half is more like just to take the QB down without causing any injuries and this might be a problem for him in the NFL becase we got big Quaterbacks here that wont come down too easily unless you put them down. I hope he is working hard as ever now in this month so he can catch up becase how can you have the talent to play in Penn State an awesome defensive group since forever be the best in the CFL and just be in the level of Eric Walden in the NFL??? That either means that Wake was a fluke or that or backup linebackers HIGhly improved from last season!

I have seen many of his games and when it comes down to it he may run the 40 faster then JT and JP but he doesn't have the burst they have or that of any of the great OLB/DE's of the past.

I think he has a good chance to do well in the nfl, but people should start to think of him as a more athletic, faster,Matt Roth then a JP, JT, LT kind of guy.

I have high hopes that he translates over well from the CFL. We shall see in the coming months. I have a feeling that they will use him in special rush packages with JT and JP.

This might sound dumb, but what do you guys think about if he can't pan out as OLB, that he could bulk up a bit and rotate in as DE? The guy has already gained 7 lbs since he showed up here, and that was probably unintentional. So I'm pretty sure he could pack on some weight if he really wanted to (By the way, I'm talking about if he can't pan out THIS YEAR that he bulks to play DE)

Hm.. now that I think about it, it's a bad idea though, because of the roles of a 3-4 DE.. and Wake would be more of a finesse guy at DE so that wouldn't work out

Yea 3-4 ends have to be big trucks! between 6'3 and 6'6 feet tall and between 290 and 310 pounds. Wake could never gain so much weight unless he packs in 30 pounds and goes up to 280, 285 pounds and if it's all muscle he is going to look like a beast sorta like Orakpo but bigger. However, I dont think he is willing to do that and the team is not going to wait for this to happen, might as well go after a 3-4 D-end who is already in that shape mold. Besides Wake's talent is his speed to go after the QB and if he gains so much weight forget about that speed and he is not much of a running back chasing and tackling guy he's a Blitzer.

Wake can also Play DT on passing downs. He did that in the cfl and i'm sure that's part of why he's here.

I'm not sold he'll ever be a starting OLB in the NFL but i know from day one and can be a DT on passing downs.

Honestly With Anderson, Taylor, Porter , Walden on the outside, and guys like Merling Starks, Mcdaniel, on the line I think getting pressure will be a strong suit this year.

IDK about anyone else but I'd be ecstatic with a more athletic, faster Matt Roth!!!

I'll wait to see what he does on the field before I proclaim him to be good or bad. The guy is set up for success, so lets just see how he does with it.

Exactly, I don't know why people keep knocking Roth, the guy has loads of heart, is relentless, and is kind of scary when he catches you.

Wake does not have to be the premiere pass rusher.... Like some others have said, he can play the role of "Lamar Woodley" for this defense, which would be an athletic strong side lb. I'm willing to bet Wake is more athletic than Lamar Woodley is.

Probably because the catching part doesn't happen quite enough. Heart, relentlessness, a "high motor," all those things are nice, but relatively meaningless without actual results. I am happy that we have leadership that focuses on results and not the dreaded "P" word (potential)!

I willing to bet he is not close to the football player Woodly is,
