Camp ending early?

Saban's probably using it as an incentive. Maybe if he sees some drastic improvement he'll end camp early, or if he stops seeing the trout look lol.

If Saban thinks they've done all they can do then I guess it's fine. I wouldn't know enough about it to criticize it, but I guess we'll find out if it is the right decision once the season starts.

5 preseason games this year and a decade of folding late in the season. No hitting in practice, and ending camp early-letting the vets see their family. I love Saban.

My take is that Saban feels he's seen all he needs to see of his people in this particular situation. Training Camp is more than just a raw talent evaluation. The situation is framed as it is for a reason. He's been "bad cop", and, has stuck to that. Now he's "good cop", since he's shown that he will listen to veteran player leadership (JT), and, take that into consideration. I feel this is a small, small step, but, one that was thought about a great deal.

*Tear them down, and, then, build them up*

It's not exactly that, but, I feel it's close.

Saban is showing he's not just another:

1. Bad Cop: Tom Coughlin

or

2. Good Cop: Wanny

I like the move.

Lord knows, it's HIS arse if it backfires.

How would anyone really know if it backfired though ? Considering the low expectations the media has for us.

It backfired if our players don't know the system once the season starts.

Noone outside the organization probably. I believe the indications would be a team that is not mentally ready to play.

I believe the indicators would be:

1. Silly penalties
2. Blown assignments
3. Incorrect routes/reads/protections

All of this is tempered or accentuated by various influences, though. Even then, would one more day of two-a-days have made a difference?

Who knows?

But it's those decisions that gets coaches canned or venerated.

Well camp really hasn't done anything benficial because players still appear lazy and clueless on what they are supposed to do. I for one am not so impressed with the structure of camp. No hitting? you have to be kidding me, isn't this football? I am not willing to praise Saban no matter what idiotic thing he does, like ending camp early for a team that has looked nothing but unprepared for the season.
