My take is that Saban feels he's seen all he needs to see of his people in this particular situation. Training Camp is more than just a raw talent evaluation. The situation is framed as it is for a reason. He's been "bad cop", and, has stuck to that. Now he's "good cop", since he's shown that he will listen to veteran player leadership (JT), and, take that into consideration. I feel this is a small, small step, but, one that was thought about a great deal.
*Tear them down, and, then, build them up*
It's not exactly that, but, I feel it's close.
Saban is showing he's not just another:
1. Bad Cop: Tom Coughlin
or
2. Good Cop: Wanny
I like the move.
Lord knows, it's HIS arse if it backfires.
