Running back
Isaiah Pead is trying to revive his NFL career with the Dolphins and he keeps showing the form that made him a second-round pick of the Rams in 2012.
Pead is hoping to land a roster spot in a crowded running back group and he made a strong opening statement in the preseason opener when he rushed for 50 yards on 10 attempts in the 27-10 victory against the New York Giants.
“Pead has been extremely impressive all through the offseason and all through training camp,” offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said after practice Monday. “He’s stayed healthy, and he’s doing a good job on special teams.”
The highlight of Pead’s performance Friday was a 26-yard run in the third quarter.
At this time last year, Pead was a member of the Rams roster, but he eventually was released and landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a short stint.
“I think you’ve just got to stay the course,” Pead said. “You’ve got to be able to control what you can control. Things happen in life. Adversity is going to strike and your true character shows when adversity shows. Me, I’m a passionate guy about this game of football. There’s ups and downs. There’s been a lot of downs in my career, but I’m passionate about this game and just thankful for this opportunity.”

LAST WORD
Offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen on his confidence level with the offensive line: “I am confident, yes, I am. I am extremely confident. I think we’re going to end up with not only a good offensive line, but a deep one. I think we’re going to end up pretty good. I think we’re going to have more guys than you usually have at this point. We talked about it the first time I spoke with you (reporters) this fall that you’re always nervous about left tackles, and we’ve got them stacked on top of each other. That’s a luxury. I do, I believe we’ll end up being a really good offensive line and deep, which is really good news.”
