Campbell to be Released to Chase Ring After our Next Loss?

How can you enforce stipulations on a guy who is released? And why not with an AFC team? In case we face them in the playoffs?? 🤣

If he won a Super Bowl with Buffalo that would be pretty shitty.

He can wait til March and sign with whoever he wants.

Walking away from a team at the end of the season to sign with a contender is cheap.

Now if they agreed to this with him before they signed him, fine.

But again, I’m limiting the teams he can sign with. Specifically Buffalo.

I'd have no problem with that. Anyone with a contract that ends this year... Let them sign with a team that plays football.

Yes, I agree. Buffalo is a no go. Not sure how you could limit him if released, but he can't play for the Bills. He just can't. Give him a Vito Corleone kind of offer.

Aren’t we eliminated for all intents and purposes?
Making the playoffs is very unlikely, but not super crazy unlikely.

For comparison, the 49'ers need to win out and have four other things happen, including having the Rams and Seahawks TIE in the last game, now that's a big ask.

Watch Poyer ask to be released and then signing with the Bills and get a ring this year.
If they claim him
He will probably help them lose

This guy is the ultimate loser

Oh , it’s super duper crazy unlikely and not happening

Campbell has been a class act during his time with us.....I have no problem with this if we are officially eliminated

I also don't think this is that unusual in the NFL world

Might as well release him if and when we become mathematically eliminated which would be after another loss.

He would still have to clear waivers so he still might not end up being with one of the top contenders.

I doubt a non playoff team would claim him but a playoff team who is high in the waiver order would probably claim him. Thats still better than staying here.
Untrue.

Vested vets are not subject to the waiver process

You can’t cut him.

You already passed on a draft pick.

If he signs with a new team and wins a Super Bowl, that’s adding insult to injury.

Plus, it’s a cheap way to chase a ring.

No life boats, we’re all going down with the ship.
Meh, I'm going to go ahead and disagree in this specific case.

The guy played his ass off at 39 yrs old. Being a pissy ass head to a guy because of things that were no fault of his is petty.
