So Armando wrote a piece that said Campbell's evaluation won't be the rest of the season but the first 4-6 weeks...with 4 of his first 5 games being on the road. This reeks of Tannenbaum putting the most inexperienced coach on staff as head coach, hoping he fails so we can get a high draft pick, and then putting his own chosen coach as the head coach next season.

Of all the interim coaches that have taken over NFL teams mid-season, I doubt any of them have had it as good as Campbell. He took over a team with LOTS of talent during a bye week. He had 9 days to make changes to a system he already knows and motivate a group of highly talented but underperforming players.

Besides all that, you are talking about an "Armando" article for cripes sakes.

I really don't think Tannenbaum was setting Campbell to fail. I think he wants him to succeed actually. Campbell was the only coach left on the staff with ties to Parcells. He was brought in under the Sparano regime and played under Parcells. Tannenbaum is still tight with Parcells.

By making the move so early in the season, it gave the FO the best opportunity to properly evaluate him as a head coach and also allow him to grow into the role a little.

As Penthos mentioned above, he actually got a pretty good deal as far as interim coaches go...

I don't see why we wouldn't be basing a large portion of the hiring process on the first 4-6 weeks. We got to see how he did coming off a bye, we got to see how the team responded after a win, now we get to see two away games against divisional opponents. That's pretty much everything you'd like to see in determining your next head coach.

It's an interesting thought but I truly think Tannenbaum made the decision to put him as HC to see what he has. also, isn't it ultimately Ross' choice in the end?

Just about anyone who would come here at the end of the season will be fun of question marks, just like Sparano and Philbin were. So far, I don't see any of these potential candidates as a safer bet than Campbell.

tannebaum must want to get a jump on all the "i'll pass" he's gonna get when he puts out feelers and tells candidates that if they win the job they'll have to report to him

stay out of the way clown shoes

If Campbell keeps winning and his players keep playing hard then I do not see a way he is not retained as the HC.

It looks as if the players see him as a HC already based on their level of play so far.

It would make a great Cinderella Story.....(though a more manly version).. ok ok... It would more closely follow Conan.

lol

I like how that guy gets paid to speculate and give opinions instead of reporting news.

You missed the point. He has 4-6 weeks to ensure he has the job no interviews except required Rooney one. If he does not prove himself, interviews start but he could still win it with a good showing during the final 6 weeks. How many interim coaches get to ensure no one else will get interviewed. He was setup to succeed.

I don't trust Tannenbum one bit. I hope Campbell does so well that he will have the power to get Rid of Tannenbum, if he so chooses. Maybe the bum can stay out of Hickey's way enough that everyone is happy. Time will tell.
