Our offensive philosophy, love it or hate it, is centered around the run. It is also centered around the idea that no player is greater than the team, and that everyone must do their part when their number is called.
Our star players are atypically unselfish (Ronnie, Ricky, QBs conceding snaps to Wildcat, etc.).
With all the clamor for a playmaking #1 receiver, I wonder if there is any inherent incompatibility with what we WANT and what we ARE as an offense. Is it really that we want a playmaker...names that have been thrown around such as Boldin, Marshall, Bowe? Or is it just that we simply want a reliable receiver who will make the big play when their number is called (depending on how the game is going), and keep quiet the rest of the time. Not someone who forces our offense to change its philosophy, demands (not explicitly) that the ball come their way, or pouts when they're not a huge part of the gameplan. Someone who just....fits, and does the job Ginn couldn't do.
Maybe what we're asking for is harder to find than we think. Or maybe the front office is making the task harder than it needs to be. Discuss.
