Can a 16 seed beat a 1?

I was wondering despite how there is virtually no pressure on the 16 seed, how come it has never been done before and do you think it will ever happen?

I think that lack of parity since the tournament expanded is what got those #16 seeds destroyed against the #1 seeds. Given that parity in the NCAA is improving, there's no doubt that at least ONE team should be able to do it someday. But none of the #16 seeds fared well this season, so who knows if and when.
