It is so baffling to me because it isn't a physical issue. He has the arm strength to get the ball deep. It is entirely a timing issue, but it is baffling to me that his timing is fine on intermediate routes but constantly off on deep go routes. How can he be this off all the time on deep balls? It really is frustrating to watch.

You would think if its merely a timing issue that he would be able to improve his deep ball accuracy with time, but we haven't seen any evidence that it is improving...

That miss to Wallace was painful. We should be ahead, RT17 did have some pressure in his defense

It didn't help that Wallace broke stride 20 yards from where the ball landed. If Wallace maintains full speed for 2 more strides before looking for the ball it's a completion.

We dont throw enough deep passes for him to actually get in a rhythm. That was the first deep ball in the past couple games.

When in doubt, default to "not his fault."

I think a lot of them are on Wallace bc it looks like he pulls up. but again it is ryan too. that one rt had a ton of pressure

Has there even been one deep ball completed in stride to Wallace in the 24 games he and Ryan have played together? I don't recall one. That's just sad. Disturbing. Perplexing. Take your pick.

Nope, Wallace had to slow down and was thus tackled. Should've been a TD. Closest one was in Buffalo but even then Wallace had to reach behind him and also got tackled. Far as I can tell Tannehill has never hit Wallace in stride. Yet Buttfumble hit a receiver in stride last week coming off the bench for TD. I just don't get it. And I am a big supporter of Tannehill. But it's a real flaw that can't be glossed over.

That's what I was bringing up as far as his ceiling in the other post, because I couldn't figure out why he still can't hit the deep pass after his third season in now.

He scored on one, but to answer your question yes, against someone this year he hit Wallace for 50 yards while on the run.

If true, that's one. One in 25 games. Wallace has excelled this year adjusting to a new style. But that deep ball strike would be a great arsenal to have in a pinch.

I think ultimately he just does not have the touch. And if Lazor can't coach it into him, I don't think think anyone can. I don't want to believe that but it's becoming inevitable.

I complete agree, I still think people get to caught up in the deep ball crap. Deep balls are easier when your WR makes a play on the ball, Like CJ today for example, he went and got it. Wallace would've waited for it to get to him.

Really odd for someone with RT's arm talent not hit on those. He's just awful at it. Guys come off the bench hitting those (Sanchez last week, Stanton today) totally cold. Never expect to hit on tons of those, but RT just never seems to hit. Especially frustrating given he's seemingly missed Wallace a dozen times over the last year and the half.
