Can anyone tell me why we didn't pick up Brad Smith from the Jets?

Brad Smith is one of the most underrated all around players in the NFL imo, we definitely should have picked him up. HE CAN THROW TOO!!!

Well as long as those two wins are against the Jets..... :D

/sarcasm

But seriously, because we didn't pick up Brad Smith....2-14??? I don't get the logic here. Care to explain? We have too much talent on this team to win just two games, I don't care WHO our QB is.

So we're going 2-14 because we didn't spend $15 million on a player who:

-nominally plays WR, but has never made more than 32 completions in a year, and has never had a 30+ yard reception
-operates well in particular (some would say gimmicky) sub sets, a direction we are heading away from
-does his best work as a kickoff returner, when kickoffs are being moved up to the 35, making them as irrelevant as they have been in a long time

Sorry, I can't agree with this at all.

Whether his "swiss army" knife skill set would come in handy, we're going to have trouble enough narrowing down this wr core.

Living in Western NY I can tell you why it is good we diidnt pick him up...

1. The bills are paying him 15-20 million. That is alot for a guy who they want to run just the wildcat.

2.He has a good arm but he cant read defenses at all. If he was to throw out of the wildcat and a team was ina type of coverage other than man. He would be screwed.

3. He is an average reciever at best.

4. The wildcat was a fad and it wore off and the bills think they are going to be good at it because they can throw it. Wrong the league caught up with it and now it doesnt work that much.

Thats why we didnt pick him up. Why pay 15-20 mil for a guy who is only going to play a few snaps a game?

to me he is the type of player who, when on a good team, he can make a pretty big impact at times in his role...but when on a bad team he is "just another guy". He wont make a big impact in Buf.

This really has been one of the worst rookie posting seasons I've seen on this site. Thanks for contributing there OP! :hi5:

Because we did not need a gimmick player that would cost a whole lot more that he was worth...

If Brad Smith was available why didn't we try and go after him rather then let the Bills pick him up? I guess it's just the same old tune... Front office and coaches letting every other team grab good quality players while we try and go for 3rd, 4th string type players or players not even good enough to make their team squad.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

Get ready for 2-14 season.

The guy wasn't drafted or was a waiver pick-up by Buffalo, he CHOSE to go there.

Your thread is absolutely ridiculous.

Get ready for another 2-14 chastising replies.

Agreed, without Brad Smith this is a 2-14 team.

WITH Brad Smith... well... this is a 14-2 team.

We have too many recievers just like him. Bess and Hartline.

We needed a speed guy

So becuase we didn't get Brad Smith we are looking at a 2-14 season? Threads like these are ridiculous...

I don't believe I said because we didn't get Brad Smith we are looking at a 2-14 season. You watch how Brad Smith will tear up the Phins when they meet this year.

2-14 season
