All of these predictions are not surprising. Analyst are not great at talent evaluation. Most of them just do not see the most likely effect of adding Jake Grove. Most do not understand that the Ravens game was about a badly flawed and failing interior offensive line. They blame Pennington, as they should, without asking why it happened. They do not see that Pennington understood Satele and the interior line were being humiliated. They do not understand that Pennington was desperate to try and overcome a critical flaw in the offense. That is why he threw so many picks.
We will start out quickly this year because Grove gives us the muscle and consistency along the line required to have a power running game. I predict we rush for well over 100 yards against the Falcons. They do not see that we will have a very effective receiving core this year. It reminds me of some of the receiving corps during the early years of Tom Brady' stenure with the Patriots. Pennington should be able to decimate a defense with four effective receivers, and I believe we will have four effective receivers.
If the talent levels on this team did not improve, then the writer would be correct. Unfortunately for him, the Dolphins will be a significantly better team. Almost all of the returning starters will be better this year as they know the schemes better and have improved. The combination of the key talent acquisitions and the improvement of the current players should lead to dramatic improvements.
