My fellow Fin fans...just wondering and pondering about the Tuna & Co. plans for the draft...and it hit me....knowing Dorsey is arguably the best defensive player in this draft...can he play DE in a 3-4 defense? Thoughts????...

he absolutely can... if he was drafted that would be where he would play... though the knock for him there is his size, but i think he would excel...

the issue is that hes never played it before so its transitioning someone to a new position with all that guaranteed money... scary stuff...

Yep . . . he can also play NT . . . but he seems IDEAL as a 4-3 DT . . . just because a guy CAN play the position doesn't mean he will be at his best at it . . . . and I'm not sure I like Dorsey as a 3-4 DE . . . then throw in the health issues, it just seems like an unnecessary risk when u have a OT need staring u in the face and one worthy of the pick in Jake Long. The front 3 doesn't seem too bad on this team.

His height is not ideal for the outside position. But, his long arms are his redemption. He could play multiple positions on a 3-4 line.

I could picture him moving inside at NT on obvious passing downs as Ferguson will rotate in and out for the dirty work.

At the 3 technique, he could cause mucho problemo because the Tackle will have to watch for the OLB and the Guard will need help against Dorsey. It could create some situations where the OLB will be matched up w/ a TE.

Im a big fan of Dorsey...I think he would be a great addition...between him, Long and Gholston, it's tough to say who would fit in best...

If we go Defense . . . i would want Dorsey . . .over Long and Gholston. I just think u can't pass up that kind of talent if u go D . . . he is the Best Player in this draft overall IMO . . . but our need for a LT with excellent run blocking skills trumps anything on D IMO. If Long was not worthy I would say Dorsey . . . I just think Long is PERFECT for what this team wants to do on offense.

To you first point in the quotes...what if Long is just a right tackle...what if at right tackle he grades as well as someone in the 2nd or 3rd round???

My thinking is that Dorsey could be such a superior talent to Jake Long that youd have to pick him...and get a 2nd round RT as consolation...

Absolutely. He would dominate. I would expect him to kick inside on passing downs.

that guy will play like a man amongst boys just about wherever he plays on the Dline, his presence will elevate our Defense BIG TIME. just Draft him and lets get on with it.

I hope Long is a RT. Because he would be incredible at it, and we could try and trade JT for Mckinney and put him at LT. Then we have an amazing Oline. I would be very happy to see the Fins with an Oline that good.

Glenn Dorsey, Jake Long, and Darren McFadden are the only players to stay as consensus top ten picks from the beginning to end of college football season. It is no coincidence that Jake Long has been in negotiations with Miami, because he is the only other player with the least amount of downside with tremendous upside (non-skill player). Dorsey, is the "pillar of our defense" and the guy that can get to the Qb "10 times a year." His versatility, durability, toughness, leadership, consistent play, are what Parcells and Co are looking for. As I never saw this coming, and an scared of his potentially overblown injury history, I expect Dorsey to go #1.
