If Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett played as good a game as they talked the Miami Dolphins would have one of the best linebacker duos in the NFL.
Miami's two loquacious veterans have the ability, and the track record to be impact players - producing sacks, forcing fumbles, pulling down interceptions - but their production as Dolphins hasn't always aligned with their talent level. The pair, which contributed 209 tackles last season, got off to rough start last season before finishing out 2011 strong. It is possible Dansby and Burnett could pick up where they left off in their second year working together. The defense's shift to a base 4-3 scheme could also help this duo flourish because defensive tackles Paul Soliai and Randy Starks should allow Miami's linebackers room to roam.

I'm looking for a breakout probowl season from Dansby. Your thoughts ?

I just hope they can cover those NE tight ends this year. That got absolutely demolished in both games last year giving up 24 catches for over 300 yards to the 2 tight ends.

I haven't seen the breakdown..but those numbers could be a bit misleading since Brady put up stupid numbers against us in that first game when these guys were fat and out of shape. Also, you are talking about probably the best TE in the league in Gronk and another stud in Hernandez. Anyways, I agree they have to play better against the pass against NE, but for the second half of the year both of those guys played pretty dang well.

From my humble perspective, on the potential stand point, the LB corp will be benefited on this new defense scheme, Misi does not have to be a factor on the pass rush anymore, he needs to play his strength, stuffing the run and covering TE, this I think will be the major adjustment from the talent stand point. Additionally, Dansby will be a leader, a tackling machine and Burnett quickness and strength covering TE, so, both will be also helping their playing on this new system; I see the talent more comfortable on this defense scheme, they will have more opportunities to shine. On the other hand, these group is well protected behind our great couple of tackles on the D-line. Just expecting to turn the talent on paper into a reality in games.

That is definitely the area we need to improve in. As far as all pro lots of competition. Maybe one day.

Well said.

I'm thinking back to Zach with Timbo and Gardenerup front eating up blockers.
Dansby is no Zach thomas but his numbers (tackles , tackles for losses ,sacks) should blow up this year.

it would help defending the pats te's if coyle didn't give gronk especially free releases all over the place...if we didn't allow these te's to get off the los and into their routes however they want to....as for can the lbs carry the team i don't know about carry us but the switch to a 43 should let dansby and burnett have clean looks to the football...and not have to sift through traffic as much...both of these guys run to the football very well...i expect a big year from dansby and burnett...koa also may not provide edge pass rush but they can let him roam a little and blitz through gaps here and there

Agreed. Big Paul and Co will let these guys get some clean looks. Dansby is going to put up some monster numbers this year IMO. Burnett is also well suited for his role. Misi is strong at the POA and should benefit from this as well. We will see how the depth looks after that...our starters look strong but Im not sold on Guyton or the others

Here's what Dansby will do to ball carriers this year.

I see lots of run blizing to fill holes with turnovers and negative plays for all. Especially Karlos,

I really think for our defense to take that next step we need someone like Kaddu to step up. I just don't think Guyton is going to be very good, although I see Koa being worse. I really don't want to see Koa on the team this time next year. He is never takes the correct angle and has a hard time setting a firm edge. You see him making the same mistakes over and over, doesn't seem very coachable. But he makes up for all that by being even worse at rushing the passer.

If Kaddu shows anything in TC it wouldn't surprise me to see Koa as one of the surprise cuts.

They were a little better in the second meeting. 13-189 2TD's in the 1st and 11-114 in the second. But of course Welker tourched us for 100 plus in the second game while we were keeping the TE in check. It's a lose-lose situation. Gotta put Brady on his back to help these guys out.

I'm thinking the key to this defense is our D-Line play.
