i think he can return to being decent. and thats all i want out of him. take what the defense gives you and let the other players win the game.

No. In the AFC he would have to be better than Peyton Manning, Brady, Roethlisberger, Brees, Green, and maybe Kerry Collins. Not happening.

Gus is what he is...a career backup who's only success came in the form of a very good D and a good OL. He has bounced around for 12 years, if he was this "probowl" QB, he should have shown it elsewhere by now...

His "Pro Bowl" form was 12td's and 11int's. I'm just praying Gus can just get us through this season with a .500 record.

At this point, I'm just hoping he can move our offense down the field , throws more TD's than INT's, complete more than 55% of his passes, and that none of his INT's get returned for a TD. If this is what I get from Gus, I'd be happier than a pig in ****!

I don`t know about Guss, but Gus isn`t going to the Pro Bowl unless he buys a ticket to Hawaii. I`m just hoping he plays well enough to keep us in games, and not turn the ball over. If we can get more TDs than INTs out of him, we`ll be OK.

This is the best response and should have been the topic. Can we hope for Gus to give us a decent year, since he has proved he has pro bowl skills?
I know this;
Gus gives us the threat of a vertical game. Someone started a post and said this doesnt matter, LOL! Since Gus can throw it downfield, Defenses have to respect that and at least use a corner and maybe a safety to run with the WR'S who are stretching the field, therefore stretching the Defense.
It opens up the Running game and helps tremendously with the intermediate passing game which is so important.
Example:
Miami at their Own 35. Chambers is a good WR and does warrant respect. And IM sure they aren't too many teams that will play him man on man. Chambers runs a deep route , just burns downfield. This will take a corner at least 15-20 yards away from the Line of scrimmage and the 10 or so yards from the first down marker. A Safety is assigned to help the corner with Chambers, now we are looking at 9 players to exploit between the line of scrimmage and the first down marker.
Ronnie out of the backfield, Randy Mac running a route, Booker running a post pattern. The key here is the O LINE.. If Gus can get a solid 4 seconds on this play, he does have the ability to try and hit Chambers, if he beat his man, if not? Maybe to Brown, Mac or Booker. Maybe this isn't the best way to explain this, but I know some of the DIEHARD Football fans know where I am going.
If Gus can give us 60 PCT this season, with the talent we have on the offense and a running game this year with backs like Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Jesse Chatman and Sammy MORRIS... And this O line is just DECENT!!!!! ... REMEMBER.. 60PCT!!! We could go 9-7.. We could play meaningful games in December.. Key is Gus and O line, we have everything else.. Remember that number 60 pct..
