Mike Tannenbaum & Ndamukong Suh's agent Jimmy Sexton are considered good friends in league circles. Tannenbaum (A Bill Parcell's Protege) and Jimmy Sexton have a long history of working together. Jimmy Sexton is the agent of Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcells, Sexton also represents Rex Ryan, Tony Sparano & Tim Tebow all at one point with the Jets when Mike Tannenbaum was the Jets GM.

So you might be asking yourselves, what the hell does any of this have to do with Suh and the Dolphins? Well, Suh is represented by Jimmy Sexton and he has made it known his agent will be picking his next team. One has to think that given the history between Tannenbaum & Sexton the Dolphins might actually have a real shot at Suh.

I believe knowing that Stephen Ross is willing to spend, the Dolphins having a flexible cap, no state tax & history between Tannenbaum & Sexton, Suh to the Dolphins is not smoke and all fire.

Excellent insight man. I never knew this. I think you're absolutely right.

I saw that Suh gave his agent total control over the team that gets him and I got discouraged. I figured that would make him go to the highest bidder and we all know his contract could be the highest of all time. Didn't think Ross would outbid the Raiders or these others with 50-70 mil

How much history do they have though really?

I live in Hawaii. Its only midnight braddah ;)

I think Sexton has done a better job of managing Suh than he did with Tim Tebow. True, Ndamukong has more talent but he probably has some responsibility for fueling the Tebow circus, which got out of control and helped to destroy his client's football career.
It is interesting that Sexton had so many high profile clients at the Jets when Tannebaum was GM. I would not underestimate the potential influence the agent can bring if the money is close.

How about his client just wasn't good enough...

All about the money, not friendships. Maybe if the money is really really close it could influence the final decision.

This is GREAT news for us!!

Plus, as i have been reading, Suh hangs in south Florida every off season. So, he already loves Florida and he gave his choice to his agent and that agent is close friends with our team VP........, it's getting better for us by the second!!

And, if Ross is all in as reported, money won't be a factor for Suh's agent passing on us.

AND......, No income tax leaving more money in Suh's pocket from his deal just is getting more real as it unfolds!!

Everyone is saying that Ross is willing to spend. Can someone explain how his large bank account can affect the signing of Suh when we have to comply to the salary cap?

Deep pockets, with millions of dollars in cash available, means bigger signing bonuses, which a team can then spread throughout the contract, however they choose, when considering the cap.

signing bonuses have to spread out evenly over the length of the contract, i think. unless something changed because of the new CBA. you can, however, get creative with guaranteeing parts of the base salary.

This is definitely something to take into consideration. My thinking is that Ross brought Tannenbaum in to get deals like this done. It seems like he's respected in league circles in terms of negotiations and knowing the worth of big time players. I think we make this deal happen and become a contender immediately... pending, we make the right moves in the draft.

Signing bonuses are prorated throughout the contract but paid upon signing.
