Dude, really? You guys can really twist things to suit your own agenda.

I guess the front office had nothing to do with scouting these players, putting them on their draft boards, tracking their possibility to become UDFA's and then offering them a contract. True the player can sign wherever he wants, but the teams still do their due diligence before deciding which players they believe can make their team. I'm sure every team in the NFL was vying for the services of Davonne Bess. Every team in the NFL was in a stampede to sign Cam Wake.

Noone is saying that you have to be an Ireland cheerleader, but you guys aren't even posing a fair argument. You'll point out the misses (that every GM in the league has), but dance around the hits as if they're irrelavent.

Not picking on you personally, but these threads are just plain stupid. Ireland is by far not the worst GM this team has had, I actually think he's done pretty good in his time here. The core players we have on our current roster are all players that he brought in, with the exception of three of four holdovers (I believe). Give it a rest already and let's see how this all plays out, instead of waiting to poo poo every sneeze the guy makes.
 
Who knows, maybe Ireland has been drafting for the WCO all along. :idk:

Sorry....but Hartline(Ohio State), Fasano (N.D.) and Reggie (at usc) played in Pro-Style Offences at college. Reggie later WCO at N.O. and BM...well I have no idea what exactly he's playing half the time. Don't know the style that Kansas plays.
Bess played in the Fun&Gun under June Jones at Hawaii...I believe.

They're not necessarily looking for the style they played in college. They're looking for the skillset that would translate to make them an effective player in X system. Plenty of teams draft 4-3 DE's from college, with the all intention of turning them into a 3-4 OLB, if they see the appropriate skillset that they believe will translate well.

I don't think any team had more explosive plays in the passing game this past year.

That GB offense is aggressive and NOTHING like you described.

How are any of those guys WCO players? Bush would be the only one near to qualifying.
 
How many college teams run the WCO or a version of the WCO? The Spread has become so prevalent, the only team that comes to mind is Stanford.

excuse me i missed where he asked how GB offense did in the west coast. I never said the WCO is not explosive or aggresive. WCO generally allows a higher completion percentage and YAC attempts for WR. GB has run variations of the WCO since favre was there. it is designed to spread the field horizontally, but is not ONLY limited to that. In this offense you NEED to have explosive traits in order to prevent defensive from playing up, whether this explosive trait comes from more down field vertical passes ala GB, or more draws and running inside the tackles which i envision Miami doing. it is universally known that a few staples of the WCO is curls, slants, plays in the flats, etc. The whole purpose is to be able to take shots when the D is spread out.

Step back and take a look at yourselves ! Than look at what your whining about.

1st round selections....
Jake Long over Chris Long, V.Gholston, and Matty Ice Cold.
Vontae Davis, passed on Clay Matthews & Hakeem Nicks, but any of those 3 were good choices.
Traded back from 12 to 28... passing on Earl Thomas and Jason Pierre-Paul, Got Odrick and Misi with the picks.
Mike Pouncey over Ryan Kerrigan, big drop off after that.

I can accept passing on Clay, JPP, and Kerrigan...... we had Wake emerging, with more pressing needs. Nicks would have been nice but i still prefer Vontae. Wrs are much easier to find in the later rounds. The only pick i could really address would be trading down to recoup the 2nd from the Bmarsh Trade. We could have had Earl Thomas, but i still think Odrick and Misi will be 2 valuable players for us.

I'd say we did great with our top picks, couldn't do much better. The 2nd round is where it gets messy. But Henne,Misi,Daniel Thomas,Sean Smith aren't exactly busts. White and perhaps Merling are. And from there on we've done very well with our later picks if you ask me. Your arguments against our drafts contained zero analysis. Just girly whining about nothing !
