Isaac Asiata wasn’t ready in Preseason… Has he made strides in the last 2 months?

Isaac Asiata has been called up from the Practice Squad and will be active Sunday. This means Ted Larsen won’t be available. Jake Brendel, Wesley Johnson, and Asiata are the candidates to replace him. But which of the three will start in Larsen’s place is anyone’s guess.

Each of these three players carries a different drawback should they start. Brendel is the best option, but he’s likely to have some rust since he’s been in Injured Reserve since Preseason. Wesley has experience but he has the lowest ceiling and is light in the pants. Asiata offers the most potential and power… and the most downside.

Very accurate.

Hoping he can just be not Dallas Thomas level bad. Maybe spring open some holes in the run game. But the packers DL isn't some joke. Mike Daniels, Kenny Clark are some real men out there. I think our old friend Muhammed Wilkerson is a stater too?

The guy has all the ability to be successful. Let’s see if he seizes the opportunity if he sees the field.

I was a proponent of drafting Asiata. The kid has loads of power and nimble feet. It looks like he hasn't put it all together yet, so I doubt he starts. Brendel has a lot of talent … but is not particularly strong at the point of attack. He's more like Mike Pouncey, a move guy. If we start Brendel, and I would imagine that is the plan, then look for him to pull a lot. That likely means runs will go to our right more.

I doubt Asiata plays today unless somebody goes down. Regardless, this could be a long day for our offense once again.

asiata aint gonna offer much...we cant expect him to be good but as long as hes not awful, dallas thomas bad, we shouldnt see much of a difference today...our line is not good as it is...

for as much as everyone thinks we need a qb, which we do, we also need lineman badly...after tunsil and james i dont think any other player (other than kilgore and sitton) would make an nfl roster....thats how bad our line is, these guys would be unemployed in the nfl if not for the dolphins

I want to say 'no,' but I will say this:

Adam Gase had to be dragged kicking and screaming away from Jermon Bushrod. It's possible that Asiata has been a better option than Larsen all along (not saying much, I know) and didn't get any opportunities because... well, Adam Gase wasn't dragged kicking and screaming away from Ted Larsen.

That said, I'm still saying 'no.'
