Can J James play guard if we draft a tackle

If we draft a tackle, left or right, can James play guard. Is james quick enough to pull ?? This would solve a couple of problems..... 1) finally get a good starting guard 2) would also give us a great back up tackle when Albert gets hurt, like always... anyone with any insight with this ??
 
why? the one good young cheap(ish) lineman we have and you want to move him?
 
We have to draft a Olineman anyway. So why not drat a tackle, he might be better than James anyway. James is not so great of a right tackle, maybe he makes a better guard..........Just throwing ideas out there and asking questions.......... I want the 5 best players on the line, regardless of their salary
 
Sure. Move the first round draft pick who is cheap and played ok until hurt and the pro bowl left tackle inside. This thread has potential.

As Albert ages and becomes less athletic he might need to end his career at guard. He wouldn't be the first quality tackle to do so and it could pro long his career.
 
Sign a veteran guard and draft one in the mid round. We need our 1st round pick to be a linebacker or cornerback. It'd be nice to have a coach who can actually coach up talent. Hell, Mike Oher is the left tackle for the panthers and he was a journeyman until this year.
 
If we draft a tackle, he wont be better than James, unless they draft him in the 1st, and I seriously hope thats not the plan...

What? James has been a good RT for us since he was drafted. How about we just draft a Guard to play Guard?
 
Keep James at RT. Use Turner and Thomas as backups to both tackle and guard positions. Use our FA money to sign two starting OG's. Use our draft to build our defense. Done.
 
Let dispell this myth right now. Ju'wuan James is not a good player. He just looks less bad next to the horrible guards we have. James specializes in pass protect and isn't even particularly good at that. He is one of the weakest RT's in the league at the point of attack and we cannot get 3rd and short conversions behind him very often.

James is NOT good. He was not a good draft pick. People are creating a legend simply because he isn't as bad or as injured as other OL.
 
James will get better I think we need to keep him at the position he's always played. I'm no pro scout but James strength was supposed to be pass blocking and he supposedly has the perfect body for it. Our own Tedslimm who's probably the draft poster on the site gushed about him. Let him get stronger and gain experience and park at RT.

I don't think we can afford to draft a T at 8. Stick with Albert and James and sign a reliable seeing man if one exists.

The guy is literally built to play tackle and is not built to play G at all. He has been very good at RT and you don't want to mess up what you already have correct. Draft a G to Play G and let the man who was born to play RT play RT
