Can Miami's fringe receivers develop into playmakers?

Out of Gates, Pruitt, Moore, Mathews, Wallace, Cunningham and Hogan, someone will emerge. It's a MUST that someone out of those 7 players steps forward.

I keep seeing all these threads about WRs "appearing" ... several said a while back they didn't want WR vets signed as they wanted our WR talent to "bubble up!!"

"unknown bubble up" gives me an image of a stopped-up septic tank ... especially with uncertain QB, new coach, & new system.

Anywho, the passing game has me worried, PERIOD!! Joe's gonna earn his money on this one!!

I'd be the first to say any player can make a difference, no matter where he came from or how he got to that point, but obviously it isn't an everyday occurrence to randomly find big time play makers... which is what we need... I think any of these guys have a shot and hope someone makes a story

I completely agree with you, but typically you see it when you look back on game tape of big receivers who seem to have "Come out of nowhere". Guys like Cruz showed flashes of being a big time play maker. Fuller has shown that, Matthews has shown that, and Wallace has shown it. Sadly... I haven't seen it from BJ Cunningham, watching every snap he's taken at Michigan State.

Am I saying he cant/won't be a good solid receiver? No not at all. I just don't see some crazy rise to the top that you sometimes gets. The only one I see it from is Matthews, and typically with guys like that it's either boom or bust. Odds are, he will bust, but I think he has the best potential by far.

Well, he or Fuller, but I think curing the Drops at the pro level is impossible. Maybe I'm wrong. Hoops has been dead on with his analysis this entire thread, IMO, so I'll defer to him.

cruz was filthy his rookie year in the preseason...i remember thinking if the giants are crazy enough to let him go miami should be all about putting in a waiver claim...i think i even said rather than let him hit waivers try to acquire him in trade for a late round pick...that's how good that kid looked

bj cunningham i've seen some decent looking red zone stuff with him...i've seen better hands at mich st than he evidently has shown so far in camp also...not all that sudden

fuller better hope he was hurt in 2011...cause there's some bad looking can't separate no burst no top end speed tape which i'm sure got him undrafted...forget the drops...that and senior bowl week he couldn't get off coverage to save his life...if that's what he's got to offer fully healthy forget about it...

wallace flat out needs to separate and get off press and use that big body in pads...if he doesn't show it this year i probably move on...just having great speed for his size won't get it done...

mathews has nice potential...not really sure why that kid lasted til round 7 watching his stuff...
