I didn't watch much of the Steelers last year until the end of the season, but I was amazed at the intense QB pressure they brought. They simply overwhelmed the opponents' O-line (esp. the Colts & Seahawks) and the QB's couldn't do anything. I think our offense will be a high powered offense similar to the Colts & Seahawks, but I'm concerned about the line. If they can't handle Pitt's front 7, C-Pep won't have time to dazzle.

With Big Ben out, their defense is gonna pin their ears back and bring as much pressure as they can. They're going to assume the defense has to win the game. I sure hope Hudson Houck has our O-line extra prepared.

What do you think?

I think this is a very obvious fact that you brought up. The other thing we need to mention which is the key to the game is:

In order for us to win we need to be leading at the end of the fourth quarter, we've never lost we we led at the end of the fourth quarter.

No, I see 3 or 4 sacks against DC. I only hope Batch throws a couple of picks to even things out. I really believe that Cowher wants DC to prove that he is at least 85% and can be elusive in the backfield. They are going to really be Blitzburgh tonight even more than usual. I'm not confident the O line is ready this early in the season. That means TE will need to stay in for pass protection and they can double up on Chambers. I hope I'm wrong.

 That's a pretty amazing stat. In Fact, I did, oh I don't know, literally seconds worth of research and found that there seems to be a trend. Not ONLY have we never lost, but, I found out that teams that lead after the forth quarter win an amazing percentage of the time. It's uncanny really. So there you go, our keys to the game, score more points and have the lead at the end of the forth quarter and we're a virtual lock to win this baby...

I think the Steelers will blitz until they can't blitz anymore......I was worried about this since I saw the schedule months ago. I think our OL is ready for this, Saban has been preparing for this game for months, we will be ready for the blitz happy Steelers.....as least we better be.

The thing early for both teams will be the "New" stuff they've input into their schemes during the offseason. Both teams have pretty much been game planning against one another since the schedule came out, regardless of what they want to say about preseason games, at practice, the game planning it geared towards the first regular season game. So, what has each team put in that the other team hasn't seen and which coaching staff adjusts to it properly. As much as the O-Line needs to be ready for whatever comes at it, Daunte needs to be ready to read and react and hopefully what he reads is accurate and doesn't get baited into INT's. I think the first quarter or so of this game might be pretty much a dog fight with not much field position being changed. Then adjustments will get made and things will get fun. Oh yeah, and the Dolphins will WIN!!!!!!!

they wana blitz let em blitz do a quick dump off to Ronnie and were good to go !
Thats another Miami Dolphins 1st DOWN !:D

I don't think Pittsburgh will blitz any more tonight than they usually do. The key will be Hadnot making the right line calls and Bennie Anderson holding his own.
We will probably do a lot of quick passes and dump/screen passes to the TEs and RBs to offset the pressure.

I'm not worried about the front 3 of their line. I'm worried about delayed blitzes by the LBs. Our OLine against their LBs in space may not be such a great thing for us.

Our RBs will be busy in pass protection tonite.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a heavy dose of Ronnie and Suggs to slow down their penetration and set up play action and buy some time for Pep.

EDIT: Something tells me Barnes will earn a good paycheck tonite.

If they can't it will be a long night for Miami. What has me concerned is the way (or lack of the way) they handled the Carolina D in pre-season. And that was Miami's first string at the start of the game and Carolina made them look bad. Pits has all kind of blitz packagers.

I think that it will take a few series for the O-Line to start to play consistent. Alot of hurried throws most likely, no more than 4 sacks.

Good Info. ANyway, Cmon guys it is obvious the Steelers will TEST Cpep. If anyway can bring up the steelers vs. Colts game I would love to see it, because that's the kind of pressure our QB will receive this evening. I read that Saban has watched EVERY SNAP of the steelers last season, that's enough for me.:dolphins:

Our o-line is a relatively new. Their D is relatively the same.

Get it?

We better hope our line (and TE and RB) have their schemes down, because Pittsburgh wins games by blitzing the QB and disguising their formations.

I think dumping-off to Ronnie will yield mediocre results. Best to let Randy do a chip block and roll out... or use play action to buy an extra .5 second. Either way, it's gonna be a serious test for our newly-formed line.

Well the Pitt D did just that and that helped them finish and win the game
