Just thought that given their connection with Parcells and NOLA, that they might be a good team. Dan is very young and could learn a great deal from Sean Payton as an asst. head coach. This would keep some continuity in the near term and set Dan up for success in the future with the fins or another team. This is all dependent on Payton coming to the fins and wanting to keep Dan. I think this makes the most sense for Dan if he does not get the HC position. Thoughts?

Would Payton need an assistant head coach? Just don't see where Campbell would fit if he stayed with the team. Would he be willing to go back to TE coach? Campbell is a good motivator, I guess but I don't believe we need him in the game planning, X and O areas.

They'd def be killing it in the gym if crossfit Sean comes to town.

For me that's an ideal situation. We'll see how it plays out

I know this is a dream scenario for many as Dan has earned the support of the fans. But Dan is simply fulfilling his role as the assassin. Dan is handling the organization's garbage. They can use him as an assassin and he will land in a Parcells' coached organization with his "Thank You" parachute when this is done. Tannenbaum can gets to wash his hands from all of this mess and bring in a completely new staff at the end of the season. Tannenbaum is orchestrating these strings behind the scenes and Dan is the face of change.

Even in a less cynical world, you could not retain Dan in a regime change. Not after he's had the loyalty and support of the players. Their loyalty would lend them to always seek his guidance in controversial matters involving the new HC. A division would occur in the locker room and the new HC would be undermined, even if unintentional. Dan's presence simply derails complete loyalty and unity within the locker room.

Like it or not, Dan will be gone at the end of the year. The Parcells' moles (Tannenbaum and Aponte first and foremost) have successfully infiltrated the organization and initiated a regime change.

Aponte's path may have seemed a little less obvious, but she had to help get rid of Ireland for dissing Sparano then she had to help undermine Philbin.

Call it what you want and put on the rose color glasses. But this organization has had to suffer the childish relationship between Parcels and Ross since the day they met. We have finally arrived at the point in this relationship where Ross has conceded to allow Parcells' metaphorically back in the building. The only problem is now we have to endure another rebuild. From the ground up, this team will be built in the Parcells' mold. Tannenbaum calling the shots and Aponte doing the hatchet work.

Suh was the first major piece. He is the building block and foundation for which this team will be built. Many of these players we hope will be resigned may be allowed to walk. I hope some can be kept to alleviate the transition stress on the draft. But make no bones about it, in a couple of years just about every single player not named Suh will not be on this team. Tannehill will be one of the last pieces to go.

The Monday after the last game there will be a mass exodus out of this building and fans will start to realize just how swift and real this is about to become. These "wish lists" and notions we have of how the offseason is going to play out are still based on who is here now. It will be a completely different direction once the last game of this season has concluded.

I, like many, would love to see OV and Miller kept along with other player moves this offseason.... but I realize it probably doesn't even factor into the grand scheme of things. We are all grasping for straws. Explaining the future within the present.

Honestly, I would say every future coach that will be on this team next year has already been contacted in one capacity or another. Forget tampering rules, gentlemen... this is the real world we are talking about. Phone calls have been made. Decisions made and a pool of individuals from which to create a staff has already been identified. It all starts with the HC. And I think the GM role is a fluid situation. We may or may not have a GM. Either Tannenbaum or the new HC will absorb the role.

This year will be interesting. As it will decide the next decade for this franchise. And could possibly be the last regime Ross endures as owner. This Ross/Parcells relationship must be reconciled and seen to fruition. It is the only relationship that matters in determining the direction of this franchise. Until it is resolved for one reason or another, nothing else matters.

Embrace Parcells, it is the only way with Ross as the owner that we have a chance. As that relationship goes, so we go.

That sounds like a soap opera...

The Days of our Tuna, or Tuna daze.

Not sure if that is based on 5% of reality or less than 2% though. :chuckle:

Very strange fixation on Bill Parcells, who is how old again?

Parcells is a boogeyman for some reason. Even though him and Ross dont like each other...sooo

Not a fixation. I honestly never liked the man. But I've come to terms with the reality of the names in the building and where they come from. I supported Philbin and wanted him to get a fair chance. Not because I liked him or liked his philosophies. He was simply the coach of my team and I want us to win. I don't care how we win, as long as we win.

I tend to be reflective in my thoughts. I keep an eye on the past, watch the present and I don't sugar coat the future. I'm a pragmatist at heart.

On the outside, we saw Ross complete his buyout of Wayne and slowly watched Parcells exit and then his regime get dismantled; but not completely. Ross has always maintained a Parcells connection in the building even when he was trying to acquire "his people". The Sparano debacle and failed pursuit of Harbaugh had a very interesting wrinkle; Jeff Ireland placed his loyalty with Ross and dissed Parcells. But the dynamic was still there. Even with Philbin in the building, Ireland remained and then Aponte was hired. And Campbell survived the regime change. Meanhile, Parcells "disses" us at his HOF acceptance speech. Parcells later mentions in a book, granted his viewpoint only, that Ross consistently avoided him once he took ownership and Bill felt he was being ignored by Ross. Petty? Probably, but still important.

Ross' inability to separate himself from Parcells has become a battle cry of "half measures" by fans since Day 1. And its existence only lends itself to the notion Parcells is coming back. Because we've yet to say goodbye to the man.

Campbell, Ireland and Aponte are from the Parcells tree. In time, Aponte seemingly finds herself between a struggle with Philbin and Ireland. Ireland loses and is fired. We have all heard stories how Aponte eventually sided with Philbin and help initiate the ouster. Coincidence that Ireland was undone by a fellow Parcells disciple after he himself threw Sparano under the bus? Call it what you want, the facts remain. Aponte slowly gains more and more power. From just being the "contract lady" to something more.

In time, Mike Tannenbaum slowly becomes an influence on Ross. Then he is given the keys to the organization. The problem? Tannenbaum is also a Parcells disciple. Philbin's days were already numbered. Ross fights for Philbin in the offseason and he gets his 4th year.

In Tannenbaum's first official offseason we acquired Suh. Previously coached by Schwartz, also a Parcells' disciple. A few weeks into the season, the regime change is enacted as Philbin loses control of the team. Who is appointed as interim coach? Dan Campbell. Possibly the only Parcells's disciple in the building and on Philbin's staff. I've not traced all the names down, but if he is not the only one... he is one of maybe 2 or 3.

Gentlemen, fellow fans and brothers in Dolphinland..... I honestly don't care if Santa Claus coaches the Miami Dolphins. I don't care if RT is the QB and Suh is a paid assassin on the field. I am a Dolphins fan and I want my team to win a Super Bowl. I don't have any loyalties on how they do it. If a player is on my team, I will root for him to succeed. If a coach is on my sideline I want him to beat Belichick and the Patriots ever single game by 50 points. I want more undefeated seasons, not 1. I want so many Lombardi's Ross has to buy more property and erect a building to store them all. I want a Dolphin player HOF larger than Canton.

I don't care if people respect my opinion. But I know what I see.

Mike Tannebaum (Parcells) hired to run the show. Dawn Aponte (Parcells) hired as and recongnized as the most powerful woman in the NFL during the Philbin regime. Suh (Schwartz -> Parcells) paid the largest FA contact ever by the Dolphins. Dan Campbell (Parcells) already on the Philbin staff as a survivor from the Sparano regime appointed as the interim head coach.

Forget my opinion. Who's in charge of this team?

This is not a Magic 8 Ball glimpse into the future direction of this team. This is pure fact. We are a Parcells oganization. Like it or not, Bill Parcells is pulling the strings directly or indirectly and we have to commit to seeing this through until the bitter end.

It is Parcells, it has always been Parcells. We just dated another girl before we came back to our "ex". And for the record, dating your ex never turns out well. So, unless we win a Super Bowl in the next 4 years.... I'm sure we will all meet back here then and talk about the next "big name" HC that's available. Maybe Jim Harbaugh will be done in Michigan by then.

I doubt that Payton would agree to be assistant coach.
Payton has to many issues.

here's a thought, give Campbell another year. get his guys in here. See if he can lead this team to the playoffs. and if it doesn't work out, the new regime doesn't have to give tannehill a shot, if he wants a fresh slate, he can get rid of tannehill year 1.

If you're bringing in a new coaching staff next season you have to move on from Campbell. Keeping him could cause some cognitive dissonance within the players, especially if things get rough and you start losing games.

Knowing how fickle our players are, I wouldn't put it past them if they suddenly start feeling like they like Coach Campbell more than the new coach. I don't know, it's a complex situation, imo.

Exactly .

You need to remove Campbell and anyone who is a big part of what has gone on here if you're going to bring in a new staff . Give the players the feeling of " new " , "different " , "change " , "fear or job security " . You don't want a figure like Campbell who the players love staying around unless he is the head coach .

Just The name Parcell's makes me want to puke.
How this scum bag is so ingrained into the fabric of this team is depressing.
Or the OP is full of ****?

Campbell is a gonner, team may win a game or two more but our offense has looked terrible and the team as a whole hasn't made anyone fearful of us, including attitude.
