Can a team do this during the season or do they have to go through a process

No because they would have to go through an interview process and they have to interview a minority candidate.

Are you expecting us to go 12-4 with a coaching change? We're not making the playoffs, stay the present course, get the high draft. Believe the high draft pick will be a recruiting tool we can use to get a good GM and coach.

gruden wouldnt accept a job midseason like this. he needs time to prepare and evaluate this team. the next head coach is going to need to change the culture. this is the most important thing he can do. if gruden comes in now - hes part of that culture.

in theory it sounds great. in reality its a terrible move. we just need to ride it out with sparano. and let the chips fall where they may. the seasons over folks, nothing is going to change that. there is no point in replacing sparano with some lame duck coordinator either.

no i just figured that gruden would get a year with the team to help him out

so why not get the minority candidate thing out of the way now. I say give herm edwards an interview. HELLO! YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!

its a start.

but for real. this is why changing coaches really doesnt do anything. players who wont get their money demands met will tank and those who have their paychecks have tanked since day one. Marshall.

Gruden wouldn't leave his cozy MNF job to come into a mess midseason. It can only make him look worse when he goes out and tries to win using someone else's roster. That's why all coaches, not just Gruden, wouldn't take this job.

its gonna be sad to see JT jumping all over sparano when he wins the 15th game of the season for win #1 again.

JT would not be any better with the jets the way they look

I don't think any real coach will come in at this point. The best we can hope for is for Nolan...so that we can see how crappy he is too...then we can fire them all a the end of the year...

At this point, they might as well give me a shot at coaching, Why not? Yall seen the movie Eddie with Whoopie Goldberg, a fan coaching the knicks to a championship, I can do it. Just give me a shot.. *Andrew Luck sweepstakes here we come*

Just saw Ed Reed on special teams BTW for all of those who say other teams don't play their best players on special teams.

Not many people want Gruden as the coach...count me among them.

Going for the big name coaches hasn't worked out for us...We've had Jimmy Johnson and Nick Saban. We need to be smarter...big names don't equal instant success. More important than the coach is getting a GM that knows what the heck he's doing and I would prefer not giving any coach, Gruden or Cowher, full control of personnel decisions and coaching responsibilities.

We need to find the next Mike McCarthy, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh or Mike Smith....hmmm...maybe start looking for someone named Mike that's a coordinator, lol. I don't see anyone in college capable of making the leap, that was Jim Harbaugh but he stayed in California.

sure that makes sense. why hire a coach thats already proven he knows how to win time and time again? why hire a coach thats already pushed the right buttons for his team to develop over the course of a season into a super bowl championship team?? lets find a diamond in the rough instead right? i mean that makes sense right? maybe we could find the next cam cameron, or dave wandstedt, or tony sparano right?

**** while were at it wtf should we even waste our #1 draft pick on a QB? makes no sense to do that right? when we can find one in the 6th round! lets wait till the 6th round so we can find the next brady while were at it cause thats how u build championships afterall - 6th round QBs.

**** winners. lets hire some high school coach that shows potential, and stash away our future franchise QB in college free agency. we'll be on our way.

Gruden didn't develop a team into a super bowl champion...they were already made. They had been to 2 or 3 NFC championship games before he ever got there. Cowher has never been in charge of personnel decisions, who's to say he will be successful? That's as risky as finding that diamond in the rough. Gruden already proved he can't do a good job with personnel decisions.

Fans like you are the exact reason we didn't hire Ted Thompson, Jerry Reese and Mike Tomlin...all of which interviewed here at some point. Fans like you are the reason we've hired Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban and even Wannstedt to some extent because he was a known commodity. Instant gratification is what you're looking for and it has led us to more misery.

I think Ross is playing it right this time around. Let Sparano show how pitiful of a head coach he is and at the end of the year fire him. He will be lucky to land somewhere as an offensive line coach.
