Don't know if it would work in the pros with the ego thing and $ but man our running game would be sick. Other than In KC with Holmes and Johnson, where else has it been done and actually worked?

I think so because both of them have the attitude that it's about the team and not themselves. I think Ricky will be happy not having to carry 100% of the time.

Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris? And Jim Kiick?

It could indeed be sick...but keep in mind that KC is 2-2 right now

That's more or less because no matter who KC puts on defense they still stink it up.

On that note the other 2000 plus yrds duo of Ernest Byner and Kevin Mack(i think thats his name)

Yeah I love how the pundits couldn't stop talking about how good the NEW KC defense is and then they give up like a ton of points two weeks in a row. WHOOPS. Guess they figured THAT one out Gunther!

I think the money thing can work , a lot of teams have a high priced QB, wr, and RB. we could just have 2 high priced rbs and wr with relatively cheap QBs.

The goal is to manufacture a QB. You need to draft them to do that. I am pretty encouraged actually by what Sage showed in the preseason. Guardedly encouraged.

BTW Ricky is very cheaply priced at the moment. If it ever came to him being high priced again, it wouldn't be on the phins.

Yeah I thought there would be some improvement given the players they brought in, not as much as the talking heads thought though. I see not one major improvement anywhere in that defense though.

you guys shouldnt harp on the new chiefs defense, because pretty much everything new on that defense that is good, is two guys that we dolphins fans have loved for the past few years. you cant talk about how great a player is and then say he sucks when he leaves your team. and yeah ricky and ronnie can co-habitate the backfield. the 70s dolphins showed us exactly how multiple running backs can share time and be successful

Just goes to show you, you don't go out and buy high-priced free agents on D and make a big D turnaround. IMO if your D is ever really BAD, either you have extremely poor talent or a poor defensive system.

It cracks me up to see the Vikings waste all these defensive acquisitions by having Ted Cottrell coach them. Equally cracks me up to see the Chiefs waste their new talent by keeping Gunther Cunningham as the coach.

Tony Dungy on the other hand came over to Indianapolis, never made a whole lot of stupid high-priced acquisitions (with the exception of a last minute Corey Simon addition), just has slowly turned that defense around into the kind of D he wants to run. Saban inherited a D that was bleeding at the head and couldn't stop the run to save their life. He really worked it over too with 7 new starters and a bunch of new high profile backups, but he got guys that fit his system not necessarily a bunch of high priced guys...and it's working beautifully so far.

Right but if Pat isn't playing up to par, which he isn't, there is no reason to lie about it. I wish Pat was still here as much as the next fan, but he doesn't look right so far this year. Not saying he won't turn it around.

No, what I am saying is that it does not surprise me at all when you go out and make a bunch of high profile acquisitions to a horrible defense, that you still end up with a bad defense. You have to get guys that you know will fit your system and fit the talent profile you have.

The Chiefs didn't need a high priced corner they NEEDED a premier pass rusher and I don't mean a linebacker like Johnson.

I think we will find out within 2 years why the Dolphins let Pat go. He may even end up recycled back to the Phins as a free agent.
