Anyone know what exactly would have to take place for a team to trade a drafted players rights, and more notably a first round draft pick seeing as their contracts are the one's that would cause a rookie scale issue.

Why I ask? Honestly because I wish we had him. Now I KNOW this won't happen I am just curious to know how it would have to work, if anyone knows FOR SURE. I don't care for theories as i am sure mine are better. The major issue being that a team wouldn't have money left in their rookie pool to pay a first round draft pick, so clearly they're would need to be some creativity. Surely their is no rule preventing a team from trading a player away for whatever they can get if they lose the rights to him the night before the next draft

Just to make it a little more Dolphin relevant and so as to not get moved, I'll go there....

I'd give up next year's 2nd and Patrick Turner for Crabtree. Although if it ever came to that point I think a few teams that didn't get a WR in the first round that needed one might step up with an offer of a first, specifically Baltimore.

The deadline to trade the rights of a draft pick has passed.

You can only trade rookies until a certain point. And that point is long gone.

If you ask me, Crabtree has a very high bust potential. I said that before the preseason and I'm sticking to it. I stated before that the two players I thought were going to be bust in this league from the 2009 Draft were Crabtree and Stafford and my mind hasn't changed. I may be wrong, but I do not think so.

At this point, I would have only wanted him if he took the 10th draft slot money, and stop trying to get top 5 when he wasn't drafted there, even though he feels he's top 5, you have to deal with the cards that was dealt to you.

That's quite useful, thanks.

LMFAO at the double facepalm. Thats one of those reactions I knew I'd get and if someone else posted this I'd bust on them for it. Just couldn't resist hitting send this time.

Still wish we have someone better to pair with Ginn, who i think is going to be stellar.

The deadline by which the 49ers could have traded their rights to Crabtree passed by on August 21st. Either Crabtree plays for the 49ers in 2009, or no one else.

I want to see Crabtree go back in the draft next yr....no way anyone will touch him in the top 10 next yr....moron

If Crabtree wern't an idiot he WOULD have been a top 5 pick....some people never learn I guess.

now his agent (parker) has turned on him and is saying its crabtrees fault. What a tool.

Thanks for the information. This was one thing I never knew. I always just figured they could trade him up to the regular trade deadline in October. I learned something new today. :)
