can someone who may have been at the game or someone who remembers please tell me on our final drive if there was anybody open on any of those plays...

i mean Henne keeps getting sh*t for not driving them down or getting into FG range and for not completing passes in the redzone but i swear i feel like when were in the redzone nobody is open, ever. This is me basing it on what i see on tv and obviously people who attend the games could probably give a more accurate assessment on this.

Im just curious on the final drive if anyone was open on any of those plays. He threw the final pass (int) to a double covered Marshall if i remember correctly. I know he threw the deeper pass down the sideline to Gates i think it was but he couldnt stay in bounds.

Im not saying Henne shouldnt be blamed at all for the shortcomings but im just curious if anybody was open on any of the plays on the final drive.

I know we havent used Reggie right all year so far but i really dont get why on that final drive we didnt try to get the ball in his hands on a screen or a little swing/dump pass to try and let him scamper for some yards to nudge us a little close to FG range. We had one timeout if im not mistaken.

Once again, just so this doesnt turn into a Henne sucks/stop being a homer thread im not saying Henne is off the hook on this one. He played fairly well all game but didnt come thru under pressure. I just want to know if there was anyone open for Henne and also wanted to say that i thought the playcalling on that final drive was very questionable.

I don't recall seeing any. But I don't have the recording in front of me right now.

On another site it was noted the Reggie Bush was covered by a linebacker on the last two plays and was open.

After all we only needed 10 -15 yard to be in fist pump territory.

Would he make the catch ? Not so sure.

Bess was wide open on third down where Henne threw short, but Colombo got beat badly on the right side and the DE may have gotten a piece of Henne's arm. Not letting Henne off the hook but I think if he has time to throw he completes that pass.

if we only needed 10-15 yards. why not mix in a run? all 4 pass plays were horriable. Henne blows.

If those throws to Bess had been accurate they would have been catches. There was pressure, but the truth of the matter is that Henne was off target with all 4 throws that drive. If you can't throw a catchable ball it makes whether or not the receiver is covered kind of irrelevant.

henne gets alot of crap for a guy whos ranked 13th in espn's total qbr

From sad and bitter experience during the Dick Jauron era, if WRs are continually NOT getting open, it's the HC/OC's fault for not designing better plays. Now, in a particular game, the receivers can have trouble getting open against stout Ds, but if it's happening in game after game, that says the problem is a crappy offensive scheme and not with the receivers themselves.

Obviously, if the defense is putting 6 DBs out on the field, the offense needs to have plays that use more than two receivers and a TE or RB as a checkdown. Otherwise, everybody gets double-covered. Play-not-to-lose-by-too-much coaches do NOT seem to comprehend that.

OTOH, if WRs are open repeatedly and the QB goes to the double-covered guy or his checkdown, then that's on the QB.

still think we could have run the ball 1-2 times and gotten in FG range. **** even a screen pass.

Particularly against a team with a strong secondary. They should've tested the LBs.

How about some imagination like that screen pass to Thomas on the TD. We had 4 plays and 1 time out and gained zero yards. Ghost of Henning I suspect.

3 out of the 4 plays were not even good looks..If there was ever a time for Henne to take off and run it was there..Hell, he coudl drawn another roughing call.
