Can somebody please tell me if there was any open receivers on the final drive?

The problem with a run there is you either burn 20 seconds and a extra down to spike the ball or a timeout. I can think of a dozen times we ran in the 2 minute drill. Once the Bucs 09 it worked every other time it has shot our dick!

I agree, I wouldn't have ran it there either . . . it was just a poor drive in general, from Henne, to the WR's, to the OLine to the coaching of this offense in 2 minute drills.

Still it falls back on coaching first and foremost because this has been a problem since the "Trifecta" got here. Absolutely no vision in a 2 minute offense, and as the OLine has gotten worse, so has the 2 minute offense.

can someone who may have been at the game or someone who remembers please tell me on our final drive if there was anybody open on any of those plays...

i mean Henne keeps getting sh*t for not driving them down or getting into FG range and for not completing passes in the redzone but i swear i feel like when were in the redzone nobody is open, ever. This is me basing it on what i see on tv and obviously people who attend the games could probably give a more accurate assessment on this.

Im just curious on the final drive if anyone was open on any of those plays. He threw the final pass (int) to a double covered Marshall if i remember correctly. I know he threw the deeper pass down the sideline to Gates i think it was but he couldnt stay in bounds.

Im not saying Henne shouldnt be blamed at all for the shortcomings but im just curious if anybody was open on any of the plays on the final drive.

I know we havent used Reggie right all year so far but i really dont get why on that final drive we didnt try to get the ball in his hands on a screen or a little swing/dump pass to try and let him scamper for some yards to nudge us a little close to FG range. We had one timeout if im not mistaken.

Once again, just so this doesnt turn into a Henne sucks/stop being a homer thread im not saying Henne is off the hook on this one. He played fairly well all game but didnt come thru under pressure. I just want to know if there was anyone open for Henne and also wanted to say that i thought the playcalling on that final drive was very questionable.

I'll be honest and admit that I did not watch this game a 2nd time, but I will just to answer your question at least for me.

However, part of your question is wrong. There is almost no way that a fan in the stands can see a play better then a fan at home with Direct TV and a DVR. The average play last maybe 6 seconds. Few people in the heat of the moment can see what several players are doing at the same time in a 6-7 second time period.

Most people watch the ball.

The fact of the matter is henne didn't get it done! playcalling or not if he sees something in his pre-snap read then he needs to audible into something he thinks can get us in FG range, the coaching staff gave him free reigns to audible whenever he wants, when your a leader of a team you get in that damn huddle and you take control and look everybody in the eye and say were gonna win this damn football game! look at the WR's and say beat your man I'll find you! Look at the OL and say give me time and I'm gonna win this ball game! this was the same scenario last year against pitt, and detroit in the 4th qrt, henne could not get it done and threw a pick to end the game, he has his chance to do something clutch for this team and once again he failed, 50yd line, 1 timeout and all he needed was 15yds and he couldnt get it done, hell screw daboll, If I'm a franchise qb I get in that huddle and call my own plays, im sure manning, brady, brees, rodgers, rivers, all get in the huddle in a moment like that and have a feel for what they wanna do, henne should of stepped up became a leader and won that damn ball game and he didn't!

I don't think running the ball would have gotten much they were stacking the box because they knew we needed those 7 yards to get into fg range. A screen or draw play would have most likely been expected and stuffed as well.

Well maybe if Tony Dumbprano would quit wasting timeouts

However, you cant ignore his protection was non existant, and he was knocked all over. That affects a QB greatly as the game goes on.

How many times, of the times he got sacked, did you see him move AT ALL in the pocket to avoid the rush?

...or did you just see him drop back and sit there like a corpse with cement shoes?

I'm telling you guys....pocket presence....its an important thing.

almost as important as pass protection of which he was getting very little

That's the white Vick your talking about.

Thats true....thats true...

However, that being said, when you do get pass protection and you stand still and let the DEs sprint right at you (because they know your going to be standing at the same place as always) it only makes the job of those OLinemen harder than it already is, ie. they suck already they dont need your help.

Ypu must admit he has improved moving in pocket while the line has regressed in pass blocking not to mention none of our backs are good blockers.

From sad and bitter experience during the Dick Jauron era, if WRs are continually NOT getting open, it's the HC/OC's fault for not designing better plays. Now, in a particular game, the receivers can have trouble getting open against stout Ds, but if it's happening in game after game, that says the problem is a crappy offensive scheme and not with the receivers themselves.

Obviously, if the defense is putting 6 DBs out on the field, the offense needs to have plays that use more than two receivers and a TE or RB as a checkdown. Otherwise, everybody gets double-covered. Play-not-to-lose-by-too-much coaches do NOT seem to comprehend that.

OTOH, if WRs are open repeatedly and the QB goes to the double-covered guy or his checkdown, then that's on the QB.

Totally of subject. But here comes the invasion of the Buffalo Bills fans all over are message boards since they are now winning. ! Bottom line its a team game. Chad made a few bad throws, the Oline didn't protect when it it had to and the receiver that could have ended the games was out of bounds. And with the Carpenter is kicking these days we need a lot more than just 15yds trust me on that one..

Good point, the way Carpenter has been kicking we could have gone 15 yards and he misses it. Then everyone would be bitching because Henne didn't go 16
