Shawn was a 4th rd pick who they traded up to get if my memory serves me well. Then he was beat out by a 6th rounder. What he was saying was yeah it got him down a little but never to the point where he thought he couldn't do it, or to the point where it affected his desire to play. He came to find out there was gonna be some more work but now he is gonna try and get in there and get it done.
One thing you have to remember is these guys are coming straigtht off the practice field after working so hard they are about to throw up. He had sweat still pouring down his face during the interview. He had just gone through a workout of trying to do everything perfect, perfect footwork, leverage, keeping perfect technique, and trying to play fast enough to get the coaches eye. Then some guy with a microphone sticks a mic in his face and starts asking him questions. It's no wonder some of these guys don't sound like college professors, they are going through mental and physical exhaustion. Don't try to read too much in to things if they sometimes mispeak....unless of course it is something someone from another team says. Then of course you are allowed to blow that out of proportion.
