From G Shawn Murphy

"It was never a situation where I was down or felt like I couldn't do it," Murphy said. "It was just a desire to get in there and play."

What he didn't feel like playing last year?

New found confidence? Realized he had to kick it up a couple notches if he really wanted to play. Thats my guess.

the collegic level and pro level are two VERY different situations.I mean, when you have a chance to play in the pros, your told what to expect, but you never really know what its like til you get there. And the transition is much tougher than seen upon us fans, and the mental process can weigh more on the shoulders on others, more often than not....

dudes a young guy. prolly went in there and thought the NFL was going to be easier than what it turned out to be. he prolly felt real down about himself. and got some new found confidence and feels like he can actually see the field this season. it takes hard work and dedication to play in the NFL and maybe he finally realized that.

Shawn was a 4th rd pick who they traded up to get if my memory serves me well. Then he was beat out by a 6th rounder. What he was saying was yeah it got him down a little but never to the point where he thought he couldn't do it, or to the point where it affected his desire to play. He came to find out there was gonna be some more work but now he is gonna try and get in there and get it done.

One thing you have to remember is these guys are coming straigtht off the practice field after working so hard they are about to throw up. He had sweat still pouring down his face during the interview. He had just gone through a workout of trying to do everything perfect, perfect footwork, leverage, keeping perfect technique, and trying to play fast enough to get the coaches eye. Then some guy with a microphone sticks a mic in his face and starts asking him questions. It's no wonder some of these guys don't sound like college professors, they are going through mental and physical exhaustion. Don't try to read too much in to things if they sometimes mispeak....unless of course it is something someone from another team says. Then of course you are allowed to blow that out of proportion.
