Can someone please tell me what is going on at FS/SS?

I thought we would go into this offseason with FS as a priority and maybe sign reggie nelson, we signed richard marshall who is much more suited to play FS and would be very solid at that position but Philbin and Ireland both said Marshall will play nickel corner, and now that we cut bell we have a hole at SS, I was thinking we would kick Jones over to SS, put Marshall at FS, and draft a nickel corner maybe in the 3rd round and let him and jimmy wilson battle it out, this draft is not deep for FS or SS, so I'm just not sure what the plan is, I'll say this much, I do not trust jones/clemons or culver at FS, so what do you guys think the plan is?
 
Marshall is playing CB. Clemons/Culver/Drafted Player at FS and Jones at SS. Jones showed the most promise of the safeties last year but proved he was better suited for SS. He's a average FS but a above average SS due to his tackling abilities and coverage skills.
 
I have been screaming about this for over two years now. No succession plan for Bell, no back up plan for Jones/Clemons/Culver.

Another wonderful GM moment.

I would be very happy with jones at SS and marshall at FS, but I agree, we better have a plan at those positions

He's a way below average FS. He couldn't cover a offensive lineman running routes.
 
They are most likely going to roll with Clemons at FS and Jones at SS. Ireland REALLY likes Clemons and thinks Jones can be a playmaker. Clemons has ridiculous range and Jones has game-chaning abilities at SS. All this nonsense about you need a playmaker at FS and SS is hogwash. Only one is needed if that, stability is much more important.
 
We have to young and improved safeties, that were drafted in the last 3 drafts. A free Safety with 4.3 Speed in Chris Clemons, and A hard hitting Strong safety who played well to end the season in Rashad Jones.

hell, I thought we were just going to wish for a safety in one hand, and **** in another hand, and see which hand fills up first.
 
Jones will be good at SS so there is no hole there. As for FS I hope we take janzen jackson in the 4th he could come in and start right away as a rookie. He is a playmaker!

Clemons should've started FS all year last year
 
wow we signed marshall to play corner for that money ugh our defense just downgraded
 
I'm sure we'll go into camp with the Safety positions as open competitions. I think ultimately R. Jones wins the SS job and J.Wilson will be our starting FS. J. Wilson has the size, speed, and knack for the football that we haven't had at our free safety position in a long while.

I know everybody loved Y.Bell and so did I but come on, he's had 6 career interceptions in 8 seasons. With our front 7, we need our safeties to cause turnovers and disruptions in the passing game, not be our leading tacklers. Our defense is legit versus the run, if we can step up our pass defense, we can be a top 2 or 3 defense in the nfl this season.

Not really..... You can never have enough good pass defenders. Marshal has had more ints in the last 3 seasons (10) than anybody on our current roster.

Also, Sean Smith is a free agent after this season.
