Rumor is we have been trying to trade Sean Smith for weeks....

We picked up Marshall to start, you don't pay a guy 5.3 million a year to not start. He said they told him to be ready to play either CB or FS so that just adds fire to the rumor that we are shopping Smith.

We could start the year with 3 new starters in the back end.......and if Jones starts the year, then this coach is just as dumb as the old one.

So what does anyone think is going on in Yeremiahs camp right now? Think he is getting any money somewhere else?

Ireland said he is open to him coming back (at cheaper deal obviously). Ireland has done this before. The world is building through the draft, but they also tend to stick with guys they had once the player sees the reality of the market.

otherwise, think of names like these:

Harrison Smith
Lloka (sp?)
Trumain Johsnon (really good tackler and covers deep well)
I am sure Ireland has some obscure guy that no one knows/expects

Not really..... You can never have enough good pass defenders. Marshal has had more ints in the last 3 seasons (10) than anybody on our current roster.

Also, Sean Smith is a free agent after this season.

he cant cover any better than smith , he was torched yearly in carolina as a starter

FS- Marshall SS- Jones is the way I see it playing out. I think you could see Clemons at FS and Marshall move into nickel at times. I like the versatility we have. Certainly a mid round pick will be in the mix as well.

I wonder if they think Jimmy Wilson can start at corner? i honestly wouldn't be too down on a defensive backfield of Wilson, Clemons, Jones, and Vontae.

Clemons is ascending and could have a good yr at FS. But, I hope we can find some depth in the draft.

I can also see us rotating Sean Smith as a hybrid FS.

They are most likely going to roll with Clemons at FS and Jones at SS. Ireland REALLY likes Clemons and thinks Jones can be a playmaker. Clemons has ridiculous range and Jones has game-chaning abilities at SS. All this nonsense about you need a playmaker at FS and SS is hogwash. Only one is needed if that, stability is much more important.

I agree. Which makes you wonder what the actual plan is at nickel CB. Jimmy Wilson showed promise as a rookie but he's not ready for that job. Nolan Carroll wears a target in coverage.

I'm beginning to think we're about to use a 1st round pick on Dre Kirkpatrick, personally (with Vontae kicking inside to play nickel). As I explained in a long post about Heckert saying the Browns were fine with Colt McCoy I'm very much starting to doubt that Ireland will take Tannehill @ #8. It just doesn't seem in character. Also I haven't heard a satisfactory explanation why Sherman sat Tannehill on the bench for two and a half years.
