This team is clearly no where near good enough to sniff the playoffs. JT has great value now but in a few years when "hopefully" we're good, he'll be old and slow. He's already undersized and takes a lickin' every week. He'll start to breakdown in the near future. We need to build through the draft, something that hasn't been done for many years. If we can get a couple first rounders or a 1 and 2 we have to pull the trigger.

Why would you wanna get rid of our best defensive player? He can still play at a high level and definitely can play for at least 2 more seasons after this year.

Simple. He wants to win a superbowl not sit on another 6 win season.

Take away him and you take away our pass rush making our Secondary even worse. Not that things couldn't get much worse.

is he still lineing up as a LB in half your defensive snaps? if so, maybe thats the problem. hes the 2nd best defensive player on your team.

At this point I would trade him only for two reasons: 1. so he has a chance to go to a SB, which he won't as long as he's a Fin, and 2. we could use the draft picks and the cap room. We need to rebuild and as much as it would hurt to lose Jason, it may be the best thing for us to do now.

I agree, we're not going to be challenging while he's effective so we might as well get an extra pick and clear the 11m he takes up in cap space

I think that we're not looking at the big picture. We all know he's our best defense player or maybe even our best player. We all know he has 2-3 great years left. What I'm saying is he has the value right now. Not in 3 years.

We are going nowhere. Next year with a great offseason and some luck, we might make the playoffs but not win the SB. If we trade JT and get some solid players, the year after next, we'll be young and strong for years to come. We could contend every year for the next 6-7 years. Lets face it, the defense is getting really old.

first off we would never get a first rounder for taylor, never mind 2 at this point in his career. And we can not afford to let him go especially since we all know he would probably end up on the Patriots, and I could not stomach that.

No, I cannot agree to that. JT should retire as a Dolphin 3-4 years from now at least.

Look, I would love for that to happen but those days of a player starting and finishing with the same team are over. We need picks. He's our best player but he's not 25. He won't be at his best by the time the rest of the team is.

I think that there would be a line around the corner for a stud defense end in this league. He is a game changer. A contending team would give up a lot for that "missing piece".

I know they do this in Baseball, but maybe we should let JT and ZT go to a team that can contend next year, im not sure if with their respective cap numbers we can flat out cut them without getting a cap hit, but maybe.

I will say that JT could be a great situational pass rusher, ie charles haley from san fran then Dallas, you know only bring him in on obvious passing situations.

ZT leads the afc in tackles so im not sure who would pick up his slack but one thing is for sure based on what I know about the system that we want to run, we need bigger more athletic players. Again Zach is a stud and has been i just think it might be time to let him and his brother in law go somewhere to experience some success.

I think we are officially in full rebuild mode at season end, anything, and i mean anything can and will happen at the end of this year.

i could very easily see a team giving up a #1 for taylor.....dunno about multiple picks though.

and i agree with the thread starter....accumulate picks!
