The slogan was designed to be a play on deep pass terminology, a reference to dolphins' aquatic nature and an indicator of the depth of information available on the site.

I think "Go Deep" was a message created by the founder of this site (AJ) for a cure for cancer when his dad died. If I remember correctly. It was just incorporated into the site. They use to sell stuff that just said go deep which profit went to fight cancer.

Actually, the slogan came first through some brainstorming. It was later that it was tied to fundraising efforts.
