these ignorant posts are killing me. the backup from arizona over drew brees?! frerotte would start over brees?! go after edge?!

ever hear of ronnie brown? having 2 good rb's is a luxury. it must not come ahead of finding ourselves atleast 2-3 people in the secondary, some offensive lineman...
 
I agree 100% with this statement. Now, I know everyone is excited about our strong finish....and we do need to look at all options, but please guys....

Why would we spend 6-10 million a year on edgerrin james? Unreal! Ronnie Brown, given 300+ carries a season......can be a 1500 yard, 1800 total yard.....12 toushdown guy, NEXT SEASON.

Draft L. White? NO CHANCE. That would be a 100% trash of ronnie, and why? If you project his stats last year....he could have been a top 6 or 7 back last season, as a rookie....with other needs (O line, secondary)....no chance we draft another RB in the first round. A simple HEAVY load of Ronnie Brown and a mix in of Sammy Morris for 4-7 carries a game will be fine.

Yes, McCown might be a future start in this league......but anyone of suggests grabbing him instead of Brees is ignorant.

Bottom line is....we use the draft to upgrade the secondary and make one major signing on the offensive line, and get drew brees...we contend for the AFC next season. Period. Keep thing sin perspective guys, because I know all of you cannot honestly believe some of the things that you suggest.
 
About the secondary: I was wondering, we need like 2 (or 3) cornerbacks, a safety, and you say we'll upgrade thru the draft. Can we really just draft corners and safeties and expect them to perform in a big way like that? I mean, shouldn't 1 or 2 of those upgrades come from free agency? I'm not sure..I prefer the draft, but is it realistic to think we can put rookies in there and learn it all quickly and perform well?
 
i totally agree. especially with teh RB stuff. they drafted brown #2 to be a stud and he was good last year while splitting carries. let him carry the laod this year and beyond.
 
Agree, Brees over McCown is a no-brainer. And we drafted Ronnie to carry the load due to uncertainty with Ricky.
 
I like Corn Niel we should get him!!! :)

I do agree with your post a good solid Full Back can help a team so much.
 
Agree 314%. But I still enjoy kicking around the idea of Zach->SS. That'll still be acceptable, correct??

I agree. Ronnie Brown is gonna tear it up next year.
 
Brees and Bentley in FA. Draft # 1 - DB or LT, Draft #2 LT or DB, Draft #3 LB, All day 2 picks - BPA.

Of course - the cap must be considered, but I couldn't agree more the original comments - we needed Edge last year in FA, not this year. He have our back in Brown. Ricky being here was a luxury, not a necessity.

As far as McCown vs. Brees - nope. Brees hands down and his injury isn't anywhere near as bad as people think. SD needs to get Rivers on the field or they look like chumps for not getting a different player that could have helped them make the playoffs.

Yeah I agree with you, people dont understand, Stars are not born they are created. thats they way teams end op with two great backs, it take time to discover some of these players. For instance Rudy or W. Parker, these are backs that were on teams with better backs before them. And thats how teams end up with 2 good backs.

He's right we have other concerns that RB, I don't even see this position as a true need at this point.

I agree with this post completely.. also, I read in a SD article posted yesterday that AJ Smith was pissed at Marty for starting DB in that last meaningless game. He now can get nothing for him or franchise/transition because of the injury. AJ drafted Rivers, it's his guy and keeping DB muddies the water.
DB will be a dolphin by this time next month at the latest. I trust Saban to make it happen, he hasn't f'd anything up yet IMO.
