Can we please get a short yardage back

We've got to be one of the worst shot yardage teams in the league, Can we give L Polite a call even Javorski Lane.

Thomas is a big back but he just runs with 0 leverage he's miserable in short yardage situation, not that his line is helping as much as it should but we need to start converting these 3&1's

Its funny you mentioned Lousaka Polite, I was at the game and every time we had 3rd and 1, I remember how he was automatic in those situations. Every defense knew he was getting the ball, and he would ALWAYS convert!

Why pay money to Vonta Leach when we have Michael Egnew as our fullback? We're converting third and short just fi.... ohhhh. Well we didn't have room under the cap, r... ohhhh.

Yep, I got nothing.

If they signed Leach would Egnew still be on the roster?

We are horrible in short yardage situations. And we seemed to have many of them last night. I would rather have a longer distance on third down right now and that's sad. We have to get more physical. And how about a boot leg call every once in a while? Sheesh it's bad.

Daniel Thomas is probably the worst short yardage RB in the history of the NFL. He crumbles like a house of cards upon contact. I'm sick of watching him.

Love Miller Dude. But what the Heck is Daniel "Glass" Thomas doing on this Team. Seriously? He is a worthless bag of crap. How about that Michael Egnew sighting last night?
I called that one. He was due. Would love to have Polite, or Lane back.

Bad calls on 3rd and inches. QB sneak with your 6'4" QB ? Nope? Okay.

Play action bootleg with your former 1,000 yard receiver at QB? Nope? Okay.

Slow-developing run play with no fullback on the roster handed off to a guy who has consistently shown to be bad at 3rd and short? Yep.
Not just slow developing but a run to the outside...with Thomas who is a better inside runner. You need a foot and you run our slowest back parallel to the LOS rather than just straight ahead.

Our short yardage would be better if we ran the right plays and stopped trying to fool the defense...Sherman only fools himself.

I think we did that one time early in the game with the fake to the HB and the give to Clay when he broke the tackle and got like 14 yards. I think we run these outside runs on short yardage because we know that our interior lineman can't hold up.

I agree completely. While the RB gets all the glory, there's not a RB in the league that's creating his own holes ... it's the OL that makes the run game go, not the RB. He just picks between holes and turns a 3 yard gain into more ... those first 3 yards are almost always the OL, and when the OL can't give you 3 yards, your options are to bury your head and hope for the best or try to bounce it outside and win the footrace to the edge and juke the poor technique DE who doesn't set the edge correctly. That's why Miller is having so much more success than Thomas ... because Thomas can't bounce it outside.

Clay seems to be pretty darned good in the short yardage role so why not put him behind Egnew? He plowed Fitzpatrick last night. Straight up the gut!

I don't understand why they don't give Clay the chance on those 3rd down plays. He has proven that he can get that one yard that is needed. When it's 3rd and 1 I always assume we will punt.

Egnew playing fullback and and a handoff to Charles Clay....very surprising stuff we saw last night

The challenge with Thomas is he is quite slow out of his stance giving an oncoming short yardage defense the advantage.

Others have mentioned it, I too am pleasantly surprised by Egnew and I do think that it would be prudent to put Egnew and Miller together for short yardage, to get that explosive element to coming off the ball and perhaps, with that extra explosion/speed, the timing could improve to generate more success in short yardage. So based off of that, not sure I would use Clay from the deep set in the I, I think it would be similar to the Thomas experience.

Just a thought and worth a shot as right now, we're very poor in this area.
