2 seasons ago we had one of the bests secondary in the NFL starting with the Strong Safety Sammy Knight and Cornerbacks Sam Madison & Patrick Surtain.

Are we going to be available for replacing that secondary for Strong Safety Renaldo Hill / Sideeq Shabazz and Cornerbacks Will Allen & Andre' Goodman / Travis Daniels + what we get in the 2006 draft?

Or is it impossible?

A few things, Will Poole is coming back. I love Poole, he was first round talent that worked out poorly at the combine and got dropped down very far. But remember two years ago, his rookie season, he beat out Reggie Howard for the nickelback position despite Howard having started in the Superbowl the year before. This kid can play. I think you'll see the Dolphins sign or draft at least one more safety or CB and I think you'll see the starting secondary be Will Poole/Will Allen and Travis Daniels at corner, Renaldo Hill and Yeremiah Bell at safety. Possibly if we draft someone or make a substantial signing that will change, but I think we have a pretty decent nucleus for a young secondary.

I think what everyone forgets is that we're building. Saban never promised Super Bowl in the second year. I think the secondary may just be the weak link on the D this season and that may be a major area to address next season. Regardless I think we'll at least be decent there.

comparing secondaries from 2 years ago to today is a little like comparing apples and oranges. because they are asked to do different things. 2 years ago our secondary had a front that rarely blitzed so they were asked to drop back more and cover. our much more aggressive front gets to the qb a lot faster and gets much more sacks. secondary plays much closer to line of scrimmage and has to tackle better. that is why i think will allen will do good in our secondary compared w/ what sam did. and w/ saban specialty being the defensivebacks, i think our secondary will shine in the coming years.

so i wouldn't vote on which secondary is better but whould vote that i like this type of defense that we are using now a lot better than old defense. no more sitting back on our heels waiting for teams to pick us apart. now we dictate to the other teams offense.

I like your point and I like Saban, we should re-sign him for 10 years more than his 4 left (14 more)

Honestly if we had any other coach than Saban I would be terribly concerned. But secondary is Saban's specialty. Seeing how we did last year with little talent, I think we will be fine this year. Expect a small step foward from last year. More youth, and more speed - but less experience and knowledge.

sertain madison marion knight was a good secondary you can't compare this secondary with that one

Madison was at tremendous slump in his career. I believe Surtain was injured off and on. Marion was way over-done. Knight was solid for the most part, but often lacked speed. That secondary thrived more off of names than accomplishments.

Thats the point at discuss of this thread, I also think like you.

I think we have plenty of talent. Will Poole looked good in the nickle and if healthy it's my opinion, that he will be a fine starter opposite Will Allen. Travis Danials is a smart guy with very good instincts and mucho ability. We need another Safety and we'll be fine. If Huff falls to us,dream on, that would solve alot of problems. As of now it's Hill, Tillman, Bell and Shabazz. I don't know a whole lot about Goodman but he's in the mix somewhere. This is Nicks' strongest position so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
