This has been discussed time after time this offseason, but our receiver talent may handicap all of our plans offensively.

If you ran the opposing defense, isn't the plan to just put 8 men in the box every play of every game and challenge the young QB to make a play? Unless Ted Ginn takes a very big step forward (which is possible), I see us having a tough time getting anything done, even with a decent o-line and good tailback talent.

Talk me off the ledge on this one.

Our final roster hasn't been set yet,IMO I think a guy or two could still be added and ya never know with a little molding one of our rookie Wr's could suprise.I think Parcells &co. will weed out the weak links and have a nice set of receivers by the time the season starts. Don't push the panic button just yet.

I would be dsiappointed if we pick someone who is currently in another TC. I havent heard Wilfords name so far in this thread. i think he's going to be our most reliable receiver this season. Not too flashy, but solid.

Ginn and Hagan haven't convinced me of anything. I am surprised hagan is still on the team! Expect the TEs to play a significant role in the passing game, especially if Hagan and Ginn prove to be unreliable.

I believe we can...if we can get a pwer run game going I think we can produce some explosive plays and long touchdowns with play-action. Dont let all the media scrutiny on our recievers blind you from 1 simple fact. Our recievers are very young and they have talent. The youth of our WRs adds to the "weak corp" perception we have. I believe we will upgrade this before the season rolls around, but if we didnt we still have some guys who can do some things. Watch out for Hagan!

yes.

my source? the 2007 Jacksonville Jaguars who were 6th in the NFL in points scored.

Now, we don't have the overall talent of the Jags....and we don't have a Pro QB like they do, but our receivers aren't off at all from what they had.

We obviously need a lot of things to click to be a proficiant scoring offense....but if the QB clicks, and the line clicks and Ricky and ronnie click and the TE clicks....I don't see the WR's as any worse than what they had so with all that other stuff working, why wouldn't we be able to score points?

Keep in mind that Ginn's best WR skills are at the long ball at this point. The QB, no matter who it was, last year didn't really have the time to get the ball deep. If the QB is able to get any sort of time and the running game works he should be able to hook up with Ginn enough to push the safeties back, which would open up other WRs (see Camarillo's TD against Baltimore). This is all assuming a lot here, but it does present a viable scenario for our WRs to do some damage. Ulitmately it's all going to be on the Oline though.

IMO one of the deficiencies we've suffered (relative to coaching) is the lack of properly developing talent. Granted we don’t have the best talent in the league at the WR position, but there’s some talent there IMO.

TG could prove a lot of people wrong who believe he was way over drafted, and Hagan has shown signs of big-time talent with concentration lapses. Wilford looks like a solid addition, and there’s room for some degree of optimism among the pack including Bess, Lymon and maybe Foster.

I believe the WR position will reveal the coaching staffs ability, or lack thereof, more than any other position on the team. So with that in mind, I fully expect a much improved product by mid-season. Obviously, WR productivity is also related to OL play and QB execution, so we shouldn’t lose sight of the interrelationship here and the need for the offense to come together in general.

There are too many questions to make solid predictions at this point, but we I think we’ll find a way to be reasonably competitive on the O side as opposed to our general ineptitude last year. If we can run the ball with reasonable success we’ll be in most games, and that will greatly benefit the WR’s…

I completely agree, Wilford and the TE's are the key. at least in the beginning, I see a run-first, grinding offense with a lot of short passes.

This team is being built to run the ball, I don't think we'll see anything other than slot plays and 3.yrd dump passes. Our TE's will be doing alot more blocking than catching.(IMO).

I also think we can do well with this WR corps. We have speed (Ted Ginn), we have height (Derek Hagan) and we have a good blocking TE in Anthony Fasano. I think the 3rd and 4th spots are pretty open right now, but with these guys alone the plays will be there. And as mentioned above the running game should open up the playbook and maybe we can get some balls thrown down the field for a change.

With the speed of Ted Ginn and the ability to stretch the field that he has, and the deep ball throwing ability of John Beck not to mention the add physical threat of Ernest Wilford i fail to see why the Dolphins CANT score points with that. Especially if what should be a solid running game is taking pressure off the pass attack. What's going to be the key is how good the offensive line can block, hopefully that shouldn't be a problem, and where John Beck is in terms of development.

this is Professional football not highschool. No team can just flood the box every play and expect to win.

Our recieves will be fine provided the running game jells. If we can pound the rock.( I sound like Gruden) Miami has so many advantages to throw the ball.

Play action. The safties should be cheating up.....so many things get easier in the passing game when you can run.

That should be our concern right now, not the receivers.

On paper,

This team has had a glaring weakness at WR for several years. It's a concern until these guys, especially Derek Hagan prove they can actually play. Wilford too. Ginn of course has a lot to live up to, but at least we've seen some flashes from him.

man I hope you are wrong on this or it will be a 2 win season at best.

the reason i say this is that defenses will stop oour running game and we will have throw so we better take some shots down field in order to keep the defenses from stacking the box. i think our front office ought to bring in another tightend and another wr.

just think how much better we would be if we had a Chad Johnson or Roy Williams or Anquan Boldin that alone could give us 3 to 5 more wins.
