The team is really starting to take shape and although I'm sure there will be more players to come, I believe we have the foundation for our 2006 team.

So my question to you is, what is the realistic expectation of this team? Can we really be at home in the super bowl? Here's my 2 cents:

My Power rankings

1. Pittsburgh- Despite losing key peices in Randel El, Hope and Bettis they are the defending champs. They also added Santonio Holmes a very nice addition
2. Carolina- Adding Keyshawn Johnson takes a lot of pressure off of Steve Smith and I think that's enough to get them back to the big game
3. Seattle- Can Alexander have a repeat year? No. But Matt Hasselbeck will continue to play well and Julian Peterson is a special player on defense
4. Miami- The Dolphins have had the best off-season so far. The looming question is, when will Daunte be ready? If he has a repeat performance of '04, the Dolphins will play their last game at home, in February.
5. Denver- I still question drafting Jay Cutler because I like Plummer. Jevon Walker is the reciever they were long over due to acquire. Denver will push Miami and Pittsburgh for the AFC crown.
6. Kansas City- Can you imagine what Larry Johnson would have done last year if he had started all 16 games? He could run for 2000 yards and all the way to an MVP
7. Washington- Had an off-season that was 2nd only to Miami. Added Archuleta to anchor the D and Randel El as a big play WR. They should win the NFC East with Mark Brunell as the catalyst.
8. Indianapolis- People don't realize how important Edgerin James was to that offense. They went with Joseph Addai who will be good but in time. They still make the playoffs but make little to no noise there.
9. New England- They had a good draft to reverse a bad free agent period. They lost some key guys in McGinnest, Givens and Vinatieri. But as long as Tom Brady and Bill Billichek are in town, the Pats are in the playoffs.
10. Chicago- The Bears offense was brutal last year. Was Brian Griese the answer? Although I think he wins the job, I don't think he is going to take them to the promise land. That D is scary however.
11. Dallas- Can T.O ruin a 3rd team? Not in the first year he won't. Expect the Cowboys to make the playoffs despite an aging Drew Bledsoe.
12. Jacksonville- Byron Leftwhich is back and the Jags aren't goin to win 12 games again, but look for them to push for a playoff spot.
13. N.Y Giants- Is year 3 the magic number for Eli Manning? I say no, but adding Sinorice Moss was huge along with 3 monster DEs in Strahan, Umeinyora and Kiwanuka will all help them push for a playoff spot.
14. Cincinnati- Does Carson Palmer start the season? I don't think he can and if he is a no go for any significant time, no playoffs for the Bengals.
15. Tampa Bay- Chris Simms is their guy, but will he be the one to put that team over the top? Any team with a good front 7 can shut down that offense. The Bucs offense keeps them out of the playoffs in '06.
16. San Diego- The Drew Brees era is over in San Diego. Enter Phillip Rivers. What will they get with him? I say a repeat performance of last year.
17. Cleveland- Romeo Crenel got some big time free agents this year and Kellen Winslow will be on the field. Braylon Edwards is a soon to be superstar but who is their QB? If they find one, watch out.
18. Atlanta- Michael Vick is overrated, period. I really like their defense though and that running game has a good 1-2 punch in Dunn and Ducket.
19. Philadelphia- T.O is out and Mcnabb is back. The chemistry is certainly improved but Owens is a great player and takes a lot of talent with him to Dallas.
20. Arizona- When Matt Leinart takes over, this could be the top offense in football. But Kurt Warner won't take this team anywhere and that defense is still extremly suspect.
21. Tennessee- The Titans made their biggest mistake when they passed on Leinart. Steve Mcnair may be out the door and if they think Young can start, they are out of their minds.
22. New Orleans- You have to wonder why Drew Brees wanted so much guarenteed money. Maybe that shoulder isn't as good as is being reported. Reggie Bush was a gift however and this team is defintly on the upside.
23. Minnesota- Daunte Culpepper for a 2nd rounder? The Vikings should turn in Nick Saban for theft because they got robbed. Brad Johnson is not going to take this team any where.
24. St. Louis- Bulger is healthy and the Rams will be better than their 5-11 mark last year but still are no where near the playoffs.
25. Baltimore- If they get Mcnair and Jamal Lewis returns to form, this team could be good. But that's too many if's to get them out of the bottom 10.
26. Houston- They stock piled OLineman in the draft and missed out on Bush which they will regret. But this team only progresses from last season.
27. Green Bay- Defense was the key in the draft and Green Bay did a good job of that. Not to mention #4 is back and Charles Woodson signed on.
28. Buffalo- A very werid draft and no QB means a miserable season for Bills fans.
29. N.Y Jets- Bolstering the O-Line in the draft was very noteable. Eric Mangini is still in for a long first year.
30. Detroit- When will this team finally get turned around? Josh McCown and Jon Kitna are not the answers, another horrid year for Millen and crew.
31. Oakland- Aaron Brooks couldn't get it done in New Orleans. What makes Al Davis think he will turn it around in Oakland?
32. San Fransisco- Alex Smith gets beat up real bad and will force San Fransisco into winning the Brady Quinn sweepstakes next year

That took me about 45 minutes and was all on personal opinions. Any feedback will be much appreciated. What do you guys think?

Only things I disagree with are the redskins and the falcons. Redskins will be much worse because mark brunell is garbage and atlanta will be 9-7 but miss the playoffs.

Afc:pittsburgh,Miami, Denver, Indy, Jax, Kansas City
NFC:Carolina, Dallas, Seattle, Chicago, NY giants, Tampa

Oakland isnt very good

But if Moss is healthy thay are better than where you have them

And i think ATL nad philly could both make the palyoffs this year

I thought that was one of the best picks of the draft. An already strong team is able to snatch arguably the top QB in the draft. He'll do well there. Plummer has always been overrated IMO, this will push him and eventually replace him.

Denver could be scary now with a healthy Javon. Thing is, Rod Smith has to slow down someday and as good as Lelie is, he just can't really get it all together. If these 3 wideouts come in and play well for the year, Denver could be NASTY. But that's a big IF.

How about the Saints with Deuce McCallister, Michael Bennett, and Reggie Bush at RB? There aren't enough balls to go around.

I think I might have some fun WATCHING Arizona's offense this year. I love that they got Pope at TE to go with their filthy WR's and Edge. And they even got a good Olineman or 2 in the draft. NICE offense here!

 Denny Green has quite the crew out there.

Great points. And nice post Aqua4Ever04

Taking my homer hat off, I'd put the Dolphins where you have New England, and move Denver up one, and put NE at 5.

I'm probably going to incite a riot, but I think the Patriots or Fins can win the division. And while I don't question that we'll make the playoffs, I think it's folly to argue that all of the sudden we're the second best AFC team. Denver is clearly ahead of us and I have this feeling that the Patsies will have one more year on the throne of the East.

Face facts, we're building, but once we're done building it'll be an empire of the sun. The AFC East will become known as the Division of Dynasties.

All went well until I read the last line of the post. NO CHANCE that the 49ers are the worst team in the league again this year and even if they were to win that great honor once again ... there is no chance they would give up on Alex Smith and take another Rookie QB. They will have a top 10 pick no doubt, but that team is being molded around Alex Smith right now and they just need to give him more support and more weapons and he'll be fine. So in conclusion, I think the winner of the Brady Quinn lottery comes down to one team ...
Minnesota: Alot of people take for granted exactly what they lost in the past couple of years and what they gained. They lost a top notch WR in Moss and a top notch QB in Culpepper. They gained the ancient Brad Johnson and Koren "I can't hold on to a ball or stop with my off the field antics" Robinson. They also lost their head coach and seemed to have gained another immature head coach who likes to live in the past. This team has lost all chemistry and will be at the top of the draft to take Mr. Quinn.

My point being is that if Daunte Culpepper returns to his '04 form, he will take this team to another level. Insert Culpepper from '04 into our team last year and that is easily 3 more wins where quarterback play cost us the game i.e first NY game, Buffalo game, Atlanta game. That would have made us 12-4. Our secondary is much better than last year and every posistion is deeper. That is what my ranking is based on, the fact that we were so close to winning 3 or 4 more games, and these new guys put us over the top.

1. Pittsburgh- Despite losing key peices in Randel El, Hope and Bettis they are the defending champs. They also added Santonio Holmes a very nice addition

Certainly a valid viewpoint, however I'm not sure. I don't think Pittsburgh was really any more talented than any other team in the league, they were just lucky enough to hit a hot streak at the right time. They were also lucky to get Indy at the right time in the playoffs. If that game had been 5 quarters long, they wouldn't have made it past the divisional round.

4. Miami- The Dolphins have had the best off-season so far. The looming question is, when will Daunte be ready? If he has a repeat performance of '04, the Dolphins will play their last game at home, in February.
No arguement here. :D

5. Denver- I still question drafting Jay Cutler because I like Plummer. Jevon Walker is the reciever they were long over due to acquire. Denver will push Miami and Pittsburgh for the AFC crown.

I believe Cutler is going to be a bonafide franchise QB. Brilliant move by Shanahan to lock up that position for the next 12+ years.

7. Washington- Had an off-season that was 2nd only to Miami. Added Archuleta to anchor the D and Randel El as a big play WR. They should win the NFC East with Mark Brunell as the catalyst.

I'm starting to wonder when Brunell is going to start showing his age. You might see Campbell talking his lumps there this year.

9. New England- They had a good draft to reverse a bad free agent period. They lost some key guys in McGinnest, Givens and Vinatieri. But as long as Tom Brady and Bill Billichek are in town, the Pats are in the playoffs.

They had a good draft, but not as good as some think, IMHO. Chad Jackson was supposedly a steal, but they pretty much got him where he was going to end up before the combine inflated his stock. They still haven't done much to help out a very porous secondary. I think they're still a notch down from where they were last year.

19. Philadelphia- T.O is out and Mcnabb is back. The chemistry is certainly improved but Owens is a great player and takes a lot of talent with him to Dallas.

I like their draft. MJG in the 4th was a huge steal, and I was seriously pissed when they took him.

20. Arizona- When Matt Leinart takes over, this could be the top offense in football. But Kurt Warner won't take this team anywhere and that defense is still extremly suspect.

That offense is looking scary good. Oozing with talent at the skill positions. When Leinart starts to play he'll be feeling like he's back at USC.

21. Tennessee- The Titans made their biggest mistake when they passed on Leinart. Steve Mcnair may be out the door and if they think Young can start, they are out of their minds.

Congratulations Tennessee, you've just drafted this decade's Ryan Leaf.

22. New Orleans- You have to wonder why Drew Brees wanted so much guarenteed money. Maybe that shoulder isn't as good as is being reported. Reggie Bush was a gift however and this team is defintly on the upside.

After all that city has been through, I'll be rooting hard for them.

23. Minnesota- Daunte Culpepper for a 2nd rounder? The Vikings should turn in Nick Saban for theft because they got robbed. Brad Johnson is not going to take this team any where.

I was laughing my *** off when I saw that they took a QB that most projected to be undrafted. This is the guy that's supposed to make up for giving away Daunte Culpepper? I will give them one thing however. They showed one throw that Travaris Jackson made. 30 yard strike to the middle of the field, hit the receiver right on the numbers, and the throw had about as much arc as a laser beam. I saw that throw and two words floated into my mind: Dan Marino. I still don't think he'll amount to much, but the kid has an arm.

24. St. Louis- Bulger is healthy and the Rams will be better than their 5-11 mark last year but still are no where near the playoffs.

In 3 years they'll be kicking themselves for not taking Cutler

28. Buffalo- A very werid draft and no QB means a miserable season for Bills fans.

Lets hope Marv Levy is making their picks for years to come. :D

29. N.Y Jets- Bolstering the O-Line in the draft was very noteable. Eric Mangini is still in for a long first year.

If they keep drafting like that, they're going to be giving us problems in a few years. For now though they're still cellar dwellers.

30. Detroit- When will this team finally get turned around? Josh McCown and Jon Kitna are not the answers, another horrid year for Millen and crew.

Another team that will be kicking themselves for not drafting Cutler. I don't understand why Millen hasn't been burned at the stake yet, much less fired.

32. San Fransisco- Alex Smith gets beat up real bad and will force San Fransisco into winning the Brady Quinn sweepstakes next year

No way they give up Alex Smith after his second year. Not with the clusterf*** that is their offense.

I couldn't agree with you more on every single one of those subject. Nice opinionated post. Thanks man.
