Can you image the verbal abuse he will get from opposing teams if he comes back to play in the NFL? Oh Johnnie, I'm sorry I just bull rushed you over and crushed your QB. Are you going to go tell your mommy I hit you too hard? You expletive expletive!! I'm sorry I just beat you again because you're soft..Expletive!! Are you going to sue me for bullying you? You expletive expletive!!

Every down he plays the guy going against him is going to try to verbally and physically break him down because they know he can't take it. IMO, players will smell blood in the water and abuse this guy like he's never seen. At least for his sake it will only be for 3hrs on Sunday, and then he can go home and get therapy. He's created a very unpleasant work environment for himself that's for sure. This guy should take the money and retire before he goes completely crazy.

Nobody should be able to talk trash to him because the field is his work environment...it never ends. Fans heckling him are next, then bloggers and then coaches trying to coach him up. Martin is above criticism.

He will get a shot if he really wants it, if he continues dragging the dolphins through the mud it could be harder for him to stay in the NFL. I don't think he will make too many friends in another lockeroom people will just ignore him in fear of being sued..

He's done with football. No other players want to go to Battle on Sunday with this soft, weak POS.

The bottom line is he really wasn't that good to begin with. No coach wants to worry if the Martin family is going to stab them in the back.

I'd love to see him go against our defense if another team starts him next year. They would probably mic him up for that game..

He will never play another down in the NFL. He is destroying the locker room culture in every sport. There will be baby sitters in every locker room now.

I doubt he'll play for us again. Neither guy is coming back.
As far as what opposing players will do, you have a point, however, you expect that from the opposition. If you only get taunting from the opposing player, you can rally yourself and your team against them. But if you feel it's coming from inside also, then a person is likely to feel unsteady.

It was a long losing streak. Coaches were reaming players out, the O line was ridiculed for all those sacks. Incognito was going off the reservation. This is an atmosphere where it tests not only the players mental toughness, but leaders in the locker room, and the entire coaching staff to hold these guys together. You don't have to watch guys too closely when you're winning, but when you're losing, things can fall apart at the seams and that's when coaches need to get involved.

Actually, a very involved coach is a good thing, anytime. Frankly, even during games, Philbin seems detatched to me. You see other head coaches, getting involved, some of them hugging players, or pulling them aside and going over a play with them, all kinds of things. I don't see that with Joe, and that's not his style. But you live by the sword, die by the sword. You're responsible for what goes on, on your team, and what you choose to do or not do, is up to you, but the end result has to be winning, and cohesion, and success on and off the field, otherwise the finger will rightly be pointed at you.

Let's just make sure Martin get's a pat on the back and trophy on his way out. Everyone is a winner nowadays, and if you have any kind of issues there is a disease or medication to take for it.

Majority of players polled from other teams said they would rather play with Martin than cogs. Just sayin

That will change quickly when players get pulled into the psychologists office and asked , "what made you say, suck my big black dick you mother****er, to your teammate?" are you feeling depressed or angry.

Most people think Richie was at fault for the voicemail and txt msgs, but what is a fair punishment for calling a guy names or even bullying him? Cogs makes like $250k a game and if they don't pay him for 4 games is $1M a fair penalty? Or should it be $2M? Does anyone know if he is suspended without pay? Because the amount of the fine would be HUGE for voicemails and txt messages, WAY too excessive IMO. I guess we will have to wait and see all the details on what happened and what the final penalty will be for Cog.

Great post it's a combination of the losing streak and a detached coach that does not have the pulse of his players. A GM that misses way more than he hits. An owner that knows nothing of football, a fan-base that is tired of the dolphins being a laughing stock. Richi was the leader because nobody else was.. They told Richi to toughen Martin up and develop him because they don't know how. Wasn't Philibin an online coach like Sparano? What credibility does philibin have of being a nfl head coach? It was the coaches and Ireland who let go of all the leadership council from last year..The dolphins need a new direction not just a new uniform.
