Diehard since '73
I have only recently joined finheaven, but allow me to express to my fellow Fins fans the overwhelming feelings of walking around this hallowed football ground (for the first time) and witnessing a sea of Marino and Dolphins fans. It appeared today that every third person at the Hall of Fame was wearing a number 13 jersey. And those not wearing a Marino jersey were wearing the Dolphins colors proudly.
The reverence and love for this man is remarkable. The only other events honoring one individual more might be an inaugration and a Papal mass. It was like being at a home game. And it's only Saturday. Wait until tomorrow.
There is also a feeling of sadness; nostalgic joy. For this is really the last time we will truly celebrate that inmistakable presence, confidence, fire and desire.
As we walked around the hundreds, if not thousands of people outside in the vendor tents, TV's were blaring Marino and Dolphins highlights. If you did not hear the TV, you heard Dolphins prior radio broadcasts with Mad Dog's unique exclamations.
To those who cannot be here: rest assured it is Dolphins heaven and you are very very well represented.
