Another piece on Capers possibly comming in.

The interesting part is that the Miami source indicated that his addition to the staff wouldn't cause any of the current assistants to be fired.

And although Saban is exploring his possibilities, the Dolphins source said adding Capers would not impact current Miami defensive assistants.

Saban has said he is pleased with the job defensive assistant head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Richard Smith did last season, and the source said neither would be dismissed if Capers is added to the staff.

As long as there are no HC offers coming his way this off-season, he should be a near lock to become our new DC under Saban. Great news!!!....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Well The armstrong guy is kind of a good ST coach isnt he?

interesting. What will we be doing with all those D-Coordinators??

I think what Saban wants to do is have muschamp and the others learn from Capers. Nobody runs the 3-4 better than Capers and when he leaves for another HC job Muschamp wouldnt skip a beat. Its all about consistentcy.

He has performed acceptably, but he isn't Nick's guy. I do believe Smith has experience coaching special teams, too.

I wonder if Muschamp would be shifted over to defensive backs upon Mel's retirement.

Capers is also close to Coughlin, if Lewis gets a job, it's rumored that Capers would take over the Giants DC job.

Although you would think Miami would be a better choice given the fact that Saban seems like he will be here a while, and Coughlin might not last thru next year with the Giants.

Why on Earth wouldn't Coughlin last through next year?

Saban has constantly praised the ST this year, and with the exception of one or two plays, they have been very good. IMO, Smith would be granted permission to look around the league for another coordinator job, and if he cannot find one, Saban would demote him to a lesser role (he was a linebackers coach with the Lions, maybe he and George Edwards would work together..) Muschamp would keep his title of Assistant Head Coach/Defense and Capers would be named D Coordinator. It would be interesting to see whether Muschamp would continue calling the D with Capers guidance, or if Dom would take on that role.

His players are killing him about being out coached by Fox for one. And that hard @$$ act only last so long until players get upset and don't listen. And that is starting to happen now.

I think you're letting the press surrounding a loss mean way too much to you.

Coughlin has been called out by his players numerous times this past year for making coaching mistakes. Most recently Tiki Barber said they were outcoached during their playoff game.
Even last year there was speculation about Coughlin but then he had a good year this year (with the exception of the playoff blowout).
Who knows.

Not at all. Tiki killed him, Burress and Shocky killed him. A LB a few weeks ago killed him. And its been happening all year.

They may not be fired, but they can be demoted. Also, the team source wouldn't come right out and say that someone would be let go. Wouldn't want to piss someone off just in case Capers DOESN'T come in. Let's all keep our fingers crossed on this one. Capers would be a huge addition to this team.
