So what the heck do we do with these guys? Vernon Carey has really been monumentally disappointing at times this season. Especially yesterday. His contract is up at the end of the season and we're really going to have to ask ourselves should we bring him back? I mean he's shown flashes at times of being very good, but this year i think he really regressed and i don't know why. I thought Sparano would do wonders for both he AND Long.

Satele is in the same boat. Do we cut this guy loose? I had high hopes for him, but he really has shown me nothing this season that says he's going to develop into that solid possible pro-bowl center that many of us thought he would.

Both guys are young, a lot of wiggle room, but should we explore other options?

I'd move Satele to G and draft a new Center. Maybe let Al Johnson start TC as the starter at C, and gradually move the rookie into his place.

Carey, I'm not sure what to do with. He's lights out at some points, and looks terrible at others. I'm not sure he's going to get the big deal he wants, so maybe we can re-sign him at a decent price.

Satele to guard would be a decent move just to get rid of Ndukwe/Alleman. Smiley will be back healthy and i think Satele and Smiley at guards could be an effective combo. We can't however go another game with Alleman starting or Ndukwe starting, both suck.

I would be really surprised if Vernon was re-signed. This was his contract year and I thought he regressed from 2007.

IMO, we can find a decent RT in the draft or free agency and save the money for other needs.

absoletely explore an act decisively

You never cut loose a young talented Olineman, Satele can fight it out with Thomas at Guard and at worst he gives us some depth. VC is gone if he wants big time money, Rt can be replaced in the draft with one of our 2nd's or 3rd. I want a FA C that is proven already like J.Brown of Baltimore or a vet like M.Birk of Minn. Both come from excellent running football teams and would be an immediate upgrade. I also wouldn't be upset with drafting Duke Robinson with our 1st pick if he's there.

Our Oline must be improved for this team to take the next step in winning playoff games. Our defensive pass rush is equally important but without the Oline we'll end up repeating the Baltimore game next playoffs aswell.

Keep Satele as only a backup C and G.Let him battle it out for a starting gaurd spot which I don't see him winning.

As far as Carey he's had a decent year except for yesterday. His problem has been his weight.Resign him only if the price is right.

If OT Jordan Gross hits the FA market I could see Miami making a big push for him.

My ideal line would be resigning Carey to play RG

LT Jake Long
LG Justin Smiley
C Al Johnson/draft pick/FA
RG Vernon Carey
RT Jordan Gross

I like this.....

As long as Andy Alleman isn't starting next year's offensive line probably will be fine anyway, but getting a guy like Gross would really be a hell of a signing.

Alleman was so bad.....

I don't think Carey will be back. If I were Ireland, I'd go after Jordan Gross aggressively. Satele is going to stay at least one more year, but not necessarily playing C.

GO PHINS! THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SEASON!!

Do you guys think Carolina is going to put the Franchise tag on him? I'd imagine it'd be between he and Peppers.

They gotta put the Franchise tag on Peppers. They can't let him go.
Lets hope neither is resigned before the start of free agency.

Carey is going to get paid by someone. He is big and versatile. He can play 3 positions on the O-line. I don't want to spend a fortune on him, however I would like to have him back at a reasonable price. The FO likes guys that can play multiple positions. Satele is the same thing. The guy has started 33 straight games for us, can play guard as well as center, and is under contract. They are not going to just cut him loose. It is really easy for us to say get rid of this guy or that guy, but these were 2 starters, if we had someone better than them on the roster - don't you think that they would have made that move already?

If you are one of those people who believe Vernon Carey should be gone, then I have good news. I feel someone will overpay for him and we will not match. I think the regime wants to bring him back at a reasonable price, but he will be looking for a bigger contract because this is the prime of his career.

As for Satele, I think we should sign a mid-level free agent and draft a couple interior linemen and make it an open competition for both guard spots and the center spot. I know Smiley would probably win one and if they still love Donald Thomas he should be the other guard. The center position should be an open competition.
