carey confident at left tackle

I sure do hope so. Remember when we had Wade Smith playing left tackle. He was getting beat like a drum. I almost cried watching that Sunday night game against the Bengals. It will be great if he can handle the transition very well so it will be an important position that we will not have to look at in the future.

I cried.... I still remember. I hope Carey becomes a stud for us at LT and I think he could surprise some people.

I remember Sabans first year Carey was plug in at LT and showed promise. He was moved to RT cause Mcdougle and Mcintosh could not handle the spot. I also wouldnt mind seeing Rex at guard again. We defitnetly need faster guards and a more agile line, remember last year eveytime we would pull a guard what would happen. It was negative yards every single time. Shelton should be able to man up at RT. Is it just me, but is this team trying to get alot faster, Houck wants the O-lineman to lose weight to make them faster....

losing weight and getting faster is a big key especilly for carey, if he can turn into a top LT like he did RT they have something, as for hadnot at guard it will depend on samson satele progress at C right now he's working on G,i'm really pulling for this guy, maybe the new FB can help them lose the weight he lost like 60lbs switching from DT to FB and looks like an animal

I think Carey will be a great LT, I always thought he would be. The big key is Shelton holding down the RT, which I have a feeling he will do.

It could end up being Alabi at RT depending on the LG spot. As of now this is my lineup though.

LT: Carey
LG: Toledo (pending health)
C: Satele
RG: Hadnot
RT: Shelton

If Toledo gets hurt as his history shows, it could be Hadnot at LG, Shelton at RG, and Alabi at RT.

It makes sense to move carey to our blindside.

It makes sense to move our best offensive lineman to our blind side to get the best possible protection for our qb.

Actually, Cameron has moved Toledo to backup LT. Right now, I wouldn't put to much into what we see in the mini camps. This is all just practice and conditioning stuff right now.

People have to be a little patient too. I'm sure there will be a game or two where Carey will struggle a bit at LT, but we need to allow the season to progress.

Remember, a lot of people don't know that Carey actually struggled the first few games last season. Of course, the fact that Bennie Anderson, DMac both struggled at RG the first few games played a part on it...but my point is that Carey settled down by game four and represented the rest of the way.

So if Carey has a false start here and there in the beginning...or gets beat by some premier rushing LB...let's not just quickly react in despair.

I think our OLine will end up being:

LT: Carey/Toledo
LG: Liwinski/Mormoni
C: Hadnot
RG: Satele/(Stephenson or whoever impresses or whoever we pick up)
RT: Shelton/Alabi

I haven't been hearing enough about Rosenthal. So maybe he ends up being cut.

The thing is, he is on the slow side.. Cam admitted yesterday that Carey will have to trim up (lose weight) .. He's too prodding to play LT .. He wasnt good at it before.. I know he has more time in the league now and understands the speed of the NFL better , but I am just not that confident in his ability at LT.. Boy I wish we had a good left tackle.. it would solve so many problems.. Because Carey was just coming into his own as a RT and I liked him there.. he doesnt need to be nearly as athletic at that spot..

nobody has mentioned Mike Rosenthal? I think he may end up on the starting line.

If he is better than anyone we just got. Still think he should stay at RT though.

In hindsight, they made a mistake by letting Damien McIntosh go without making him an offer. I didn't have a problem with it at first because I thought they would make LT a priority in the draft. But they did not and as far as I'm concerned it's another bad year for the offense. I will also go on record that they should have picked Quinn.

Rosenthal will end up starting at RT and shelton will move back to G, thats if they don't cut him. I prefer the movement of Hadnot back to RG and Satele on LG and Mormino at C. Lets build a line that will stay together for a long time. Alibi and toledo will end up being back-ups when healthy.
