I agree. But now if Alabi moves to starting RT then who becomes Carey's backup? Cameron stated that he felt comfortable with the OT's we had. A team carries 4 on the roster: 2 starters and 2 backups.
So Im guessing that he means Carey at LT and Alabi at RT, Rosenthal as the backup RT with Shelton as the starting RG but the backup LT.
This would explain why although they have Toledo, Hadnot, and Shelton as our starting G/C's with Liwinski, Stevenson, and Ingram as the backups...we still went and added Satele and now Mormoni to the mix.
If one of the starting OT's goes down...Shelton would move in and Satele would just move into the RG spot.
So I see Carey, Alabi, Shelton, and Rosenthal as the actual OT rotation.
With Toledo also being versatile enough to move into the OT rotation as well.
I like what Cameron is doing with the OLine. He has kept the versatile linemen.
Hadnot can play both C/G. Shelton can play both G/T. Carey can play both T spots as well as G. Toledo can play G/C/T. Satele can play C/G. And so forth.
I was wondering why MIA continued to pass on Kalil and didn't even try to trade up a few spots for him. Then when he went right before our #60 spot...Mayock and Kiper both stated that he dropped because of his lack of versatility.
Teams felt that Ryan Kalil can "only" play C. Cameron wanted an interior lineman that can play more than one position.
