This is my most intriguing episode of this offseason. The move of Carey from RT to LT. This is significant if Carey can pull it off. I was reminded that this kind of change has been done before and as recently as last year, New Orlean did it and got a pro bowler out of it. Can we be as lucky? This is the key to the OL for me this year..and of course Shelton manning the RT.
What do you guys think?

24. Jammal Brown, T, New Orleans Saints: His move from the right side to the left side was a smooth one. It earned him his first trip to the Pro Bowl. He will be there for a lot of years.

i think he was aided immensely by the extra "m" in his name. vernon has no such extra consonants or vowels to bolster him in this endeavor.

this may be the most important thing to watch in pre-season....

Maan, I hope Vernon can get it done as our left tackle this year. Vernon doesn't want to be a weak link on this team. He probably doesn't want to make Miami Hurricane football look bad either. Left tackle is a big job. It might be the key to our season. He's going to be the lead dog pulling the sled on offense in this year's Iditarod Race to the Super Bowl. I hope he's ready. :ninja:

I hope I am wrong, but I am extremely pessimistic about this move. Nothing in Vernon's previous stint at LT convinced me that he could man the position. I don't think he has the feet for it.

What Scott S. up to these days? I share you view about many items like this in Dolphins land these days. It is going to be an interesting year and I am sure glad I am a fan instead of a coach because those guys are going to scutinized heavily by media and fans over many of their moves.

You mean his rookie year? Yes, every player in the history of the league who has failed to impress as a rookie has been a bust. Well Cameron and Mueller wholeheartedly disagree with you, that is why they made no significant effort to sign a FA LT or draft one in the early rds. In fact, Cameron has actually come out and said that HE DOES have the feet for it.

I do think that confidence has a lot to do with feet movement in the case of V. Carey....when he didn't know what he was doing and thinking a lot, I think his feet stay still, but now that he has some NFL experience, I think the confidence to know what he's doing will also keep his feet moving. This isn't true in all cases, but I think Vernon is a person who could pull this off. I've generally not felt that way about players, but it this case..I think it could happen.

I disagree with you...left tackle is by far the hardest position to be able to man. To Vernon's credit he was put in a situation in his rookie season that did not help him at all. Just look at who was coaching him (Tony Wise). Does Tony even have a job at a high school? Vernon unlike his rookie season is being tutored by possibly the best line man coach in the NFL. With that said i look for him to thrive at the position and maybe even earn Pro-Bowl considerations for years to come.
