Carey moved to RG

i'm with you slimm on jerry...i thought he was a top guard/right tackle prospect last year coming out...i loved that pick when we made it...loved it

Moving Carey to guard is a good move. John Jerry cannot play RT, I don't even know why people are even suggesting that, the kid is a bust unless he buckles down and starts actually putting himself into football shape. Our o-line just needs a RT and we're set because I don't think Columbo is that guy, but Columbo did have his best years under Tony S, make he could retstore it, but I highly doubt it. We will see though.

We've been talking about moving Carey inside for years....

The thing that concerns me is John Jerry... I just can't believe this about John Jerry. I thought he was a terrific pick and would solidify the right guard position. If you think this kid was a bad pick or cant play based off his college career, you don't know how to evaluate offensive lineman...

The problem with Jerry seems to be lack of dedication and effort.... that's hard to predict. That's not a Sparano problem, or a Jeff Ireland problem... that's a John Jerry problem. If that kid would just lock down the right guard spot like he's supposed to, it would make everything a lot easier. It would allow some of these guys that are ideal depth the luxury of not having to be thrust into the starting lineup, and wouldn't have to be trotting ex-Cowboy cast-offs out there with the 1st unit constantly..

I'm extremely disappointed in John Jerry... where's your head at kid? You have as easy of an opportunity to start in the NFL as your're ever going to have right in front of you and won't take it...

Judging by the size of his gut his head has been at the buffet line! I called this a waste on draft day! You can't fix stupid! Fat, lazy, weak, slow and stupid why am I not surprised he is a Moronano type cornfed scrub.

Agree with this.

I really can't see Carey as a guard. He's a prototype RT pure and simple and, when healthy, a real good one at that. He never could run even when he weighed a lot less and he's not really one of those nasty brawlers either but he's got the balance and quick feet to hold up OK against the speed rushers at LT as we saw a couple of years ago. I don't really understand why you'd want to move a player like that to guard ???

His work ethic isn't there... John Jerry was an absolute rock on Ole Miss' line for 4 years.... you don't earn SEC honors as a freshman and end up on Outland Trophy watch lists by being slow, fat, lazy and stupid.

You can't predict that type of future out of an offensive lineman with almost 50 career starts under his belt, inside the best and most physical conference in the country... You can predict things like that out of one year wonders and kids that spend two years at the JUCO level... not kid's with the resume John Jerry has.

John Jerry can play, he just doesn't understand what it takes to be a professional yet. He'll either figure it out pretty damn soon, or he'll have plenty of time to think about what all went wrong while he's delivering furniture..

I wonder of the 8 pages of posts, how many people actually know what they're talking about with Colombo or are they just taking what one or two people have said, and are running with it.

My brother is a huge Cowboys fan, and to my knowledge, Colombo has been a pretty solid starter for them for the last couple years, even got a couple contract extensions. He was hurt last year if I'm not mistaken and didn't play all that great, which led them to draft Tyron Smith. With Colombo making a pretty hefty salary, the rest was a no-brainer. It's not like we picked up some team's backup that we're rolling the dice on. He's also a former 1st round pick.

This! If Colombo can play like he did in 2009 when he was healthy, the Dolphins will be fine. He gave up only 1 sack that year. People busting on him should do some research before they start flaming the player.

Disagree just looking at him when we drafted him he struck me as the type of player getting by on athletic ability and no effort! Guess what that works in high school and Olde Miss, but not the NFL! You wanna know another craptastic cornfed failure with a good resume? Here is a hint he was selected at 16!

High school kids? He was banging heads with 1st round picks like Dan Williams, and dominating about 40 other NFL prospects throughout his 4 years in the SEC...

He dominated the best NFL prospects in the country in "the pit" at the Senior Bowl. John Jerry seems to be suffering from Andre Smithitis... and believe me, that's not a lack of ability... it's a lack of dedication..

so another wasted 3rd round pick(Jerry) and do you guys really think Carey will be fast enough to pull? I know it's been said before but when is this regime going to stop messing with the o-line?....the only player they drafted there who was a hit was Long and how could they miss that one?.......Mike and Mike are right.....this is a mess.

Ozzy rules!!

Overage player , if you pick a G in round 3 it is your responsibility to pretty much ensure there is no work ethic issues , that position requires hard work and again he was an overage player and that is hugely important at that age .

Didn't like the pick then , hate it now.

We all can see waiving him bye bye ....

While I agree with you for the most part, all you need to is put on tape of the Dallas Vs. Minny playoff game from 2 years ago. Watch Ray Edwards going against Columbo and then tell me you want him for the phins RT.

Do you realize he broke his fibula at the end of that season, and came back just in time for the playoffs? The game against Edwards was his 2nd game back I believe. A little unfair to fault a guy who was downed for 2 months after breaking the largest bone in the body, because he struggled with one of the best up and coming young pass rushers in the game. Not making excuses for Colombo, just trying to put things into perspective.

He was overage because he went to Hargrave Military Academy before attending Ole Miss.... his age has nothing to do with his current level of dedication, or lack thereof.

Was Ginnger overage? Jamarcus Russell? Ryan Leaf? There's a lot of kid's that come into the league at around age 25 and do well....

But you're right, it's the front office's job to know what they're getting when they burn a draft pick on a kid... no way around it.

let me put it in perspective for ya...colombo at this stage of his career blows
